It's not typical. There's nothing typical about curtain wall. Seems like there are a lot of spandrel sections.

Even a properly installed curtainwall will shift over time.
There will be framed wall sections and some non curtain wall portions from the information I have seen. That said, it is a very odd approach at the moment.

Hard to say though given the below versus what we are seeing.

Edmonton Civic Precinct plan dumped

BY GORDON KENT, EDMONTON JOURNAL APRIL 24, 2013 2:06 PM

Civic precinct master plan - illustrations of proposed changes.
EDMONTON - The proposed $50-million overhaul of Churchill Square and surrounding streets into a downtown Civic Precinct was effectively killed Wednesday by councillors concerned about the cost.

“Everybody is telling me it appears to be a waste of money and it could be money that would be better spent on other things … I tend to agree,” Coun. Kerry Diotte said.

The plan included raising the square back to street level and eliminating other barriers that deter pedestrians, turning 99th Street from 103A Avenue to 102nd Avenue into a “ceremonial spine” and building a new LRT entrance.

^^good

I don't think landscaping will make a huge difference to life in the plaza.

But a taco truck? . . . That would get me down there regularly.

I don't know. Lots of good things in the plan, but should be tied to other projects (Library) and spread over a period of time. $50M is way too big a pill to swallow on an election year when political capital is all being burned for things like the arena, etc.

Civic Precinct Plan - 'dumped' is a bit harsh, it's just significantly delayed. There are thing in there that should get done, like integrating the now closed 102A Ave into the square. 'Dumping' this is pure politics.

we can no longer be friends. Authentic is just another word for how poor people who didn't have any good ingredients made stuff 200 years ago.

So can the $50 mil. now be used to cover the gap on the arena?

Heard a rumour today that Jasper-101 will be put up for sale as soon as the redevelopment is complete. Apparently GE wants out.

Also heard that a large REM firm is looking for 500+ units of higher quality, new resi. Up for consideration apparently are Mayfair, (no it won't affect the design of the north building), a portion of Century Park and Edgewater. They may also be looking at doing something at CCA lands.

^ I believe that's what they would consider to be "under developed"
