Me and my girlfriend both live in older Vancouver buildings with lots of single paned glass windows. Her place is a two bedroom, and even leaving the place freezing and only really heating the bedrooms, washing dishes with luke warm water briefly, and conserving electricity like misers, she and her roommate are paying over 200 dollars a month in electricity. Single paned windows are extremely common in Vancouver outside of the high end condos.

You might get an argument from Royal Bank Plaza in Toronto (which includes gold leaf in the glazing). I do like EAP though.

It has real gold, mixed into the glass, an unrecoverable process, not gold leaf on the glazing...

If there going to do twins then EAP is the way to do them. But please, for at least a few years no more!

Put me down in the single-pane category here, too. My circa-1980 east Van apartment is incredibly drafty in the winter and I find I use my heater most months of the year except July and August. Having large patio doors doesn't help, either. But my place is heated using water so my electricity bills are nice and cheap. I've encountered many Vancouver single-pane apartments, which I don't get. It still gets cold here in the winter, this isn't California!

Yes I agree, Calgary is saturated with twins already. I wish we could combine a few into taller towers.
One twin I really wish would have been built is the taller tower of First Canadian Centre.

Yeah, it does feel like a bunch of 70's and 80's buildings here were built for Northern California or something. Some places even have glass blinds, and at SFU they had a few unheated outdoor bathrooms with normal plumbing that would occasionally freeze and explode.

That being said, my current place is only a few years old and it only really needs heating for a few weeks per year. It was so weird when I moved here, closed the windows, and it just... stayed the same temperature inside.

Are these single pane windows sliding windows where there are 2 panes, but they move independently of each other? I have this setup in my place, and when both windows are closed it functions as a double pane window, just not a sealed unit.

Calgary must have the most skyline views (visible to all) compared to many other cities. Some places you can only get one or two vantage points. Love this view and great pic!

Calgary probably has the most places to view the skyline from though, mostly due to the fact that it's in the river valley with hills on all sides.

Calgary's skyline is so well swept and modern. It truely is Canada's city of the future.

Honestly, I was thinking they could make the next Robocop there, or the next Matrix, or Minority Report, or whatever. Bladerunner, it still needs a bit more bulk, but it has the lines and it has the bones when it gets a bit bigger.
