The low concrete curb doesn't help these granite bollards either. There are two issues with these: vehicles bumping into them is one and snow removal equipment is the other. They need to be about a foot higher. I think they'll land up adding concrete pedestals to the bottom or replacing them with powder coated steel bollards.

I like it, but I also have an issue with the design of the lower 2 floors. It just doesn't seem like it connects with the street the way it should.

The place is over 30 years old now, and they just replaced all the windows and patio doors. I will get an update photo when I get back and go for my walk. But the place has always been a challenge to look at.

I lived there for a couple of years. Definitely not much to look at inside or out, but the view from those balconies?

They showed the bollards on 104 St - vehicles do hit them but it's usually the vehicle that's damaged.

104 Street has been around for awhile and I would say it has performed well. People who hit those are generally at fault. The granite bollards on Capital are too short and are damaged alot easier than the steel ones. This is why they need to rethink / replace these.

Putting the "fun" back into funicular...

It would be great to have this go all the way across the river valley, as an alternative way to cross in addition to the bridges (foot & traffic) and LRT, for a nominal fee. Plus the views from the gondolas would be quite breathtaking...

Rossdale could one day be just a gondola ride away from downtown under two proposals for a river valley transportation system that have caught the city's eye.

Two companies say they can build a mechanical people-mover from the old Epcor power plant to Jasper Avenue and 104th Street within a $34.4-million budget, which also covers a promenade over the water, according to a city report...

Argh, I try so hard to take these ideas seriously. Funiculars, gondolas, ski lifts.... as much as the ideas are indeed awesome, its strange to visualize. Kind of like a mono rail.

Residents glad for first glimpse of planned Abbottsfield Rec Centre

Residents of the low-income northeastern Edmonton area filled the hall to get their first look at the new $6.8-million Abbottsfield Recreation Centre, which is scheduled to begin construction this spring and open in 2014.

The existing centre, tucked between a mall and multi-family housing at 3010 119th Ave., operates out of portables and other structures left after the former St. Sophia Catholic school closed in 1993.

As I grew up in this neighborhood. One would question the paltry amount of under 7 million to the Beverly Rec center but 160 million to the Terwillegar Rec center and 110 million to the Commonwealth's Rec center! All are great investments in our system......But give me a break!!!!! Invest in our rich and not as rich....Yet

And there is a Station Waggon in the rendering lol.....Really!!! Does it have wood paneling to!!

I agree, plus that wagon is a 70s vintage. Why not spend even half of terwilligar in that region.
