Crumbling neighbourhood roads will see an extra $9-million worth of repairs this year to deal with conditions one city councillor described as "abysmal."

This winter's heavy snow and the freeze-thaw cycle combined to create one of Edmonton's worst pothole seasons in years, and city councillors voted Wednesday to marshal additional resources to fight the problem...

^^That new tower to the east of Epcor sure is a monster. Could almost block out the sun.

^Thank god that original podium design was never built, absolutely frightening (though the same goes for Icon II, more punched windows vs. curtain wall?).

So is that Qualico's bid for the city RFP?

Nice to see the 1970's concept of creating a giant block that prevents any sort of pedestrian flow appears to be dead.

At least Epcor makes money. The idea of the city occupying the most expensive office space in the city is shocking and insulting

judging from size of it, the vacancy rate would go from 7% to 65%, the psf would be about $2...

Remember the glitsy pictures and videos always look way better than what reality will be. Based on that, Qualico's building 2 will be a giant POS. Seriously, are they trying to block out the sun so Epcor can make more money generating power?

Epcor tower, though nice, already is a little overwhelming when approaching downtown from the north. If this tower gets built as well, the view from the north will be ridiculous. They would never allow this to be built near the river valley, why is there not a similar standard to preserve view corridors north?

It looks like the United Nations Building!!!!

Now I Know KC from Qualico had mentioned in the past that Edmonton due to the Airport height restrictions gave most buildings in Edmonton a hair cut to be precise. Now this building might be taller than most....but it certainly will give it a more short yet massive/fugly look...In my humble opinion.

P.s...I like the Sun and would really like to see more of it

But now with the airport closing and the height restrictions removed, what's stopping Qualico from building higher? That tower would look 100 times better if it were cut in half and had one half stacked on top of the other.

It's too bad the huge width of that building completely shadows all the great parts, but it is a real issue and cannot be built like that. Just cannot.
