roy looked very comfortable in his first game as a canuck - 1 assist. when kesler gets back, the canucks will be very strong at center.

I think the Oilers are somewhere in between the team that lost last night to a respectable team, and the team that feasted on the lifeless Flames who probably couldn't the Hitmen right now.

As long as the Oilers retain this competitive drive for the rest of the season, Oilers fans will be happy.

We didn't expect playoffs this year (though it would be nice), but this is the best Oilers team we've seen in a good 4 years. And the best part is, all of our best players are young.

I have a funny feeling it will be a long grinding race for the playoffs for Edmonton. I do believe they will get in at 8th and it will likely be on the last day of the regular season seeing how condensed and tight these standings are.

Edmonton and Columbus still have a good chance at getting in. Nashville and Dallas still have a decent chance, although it seems like they signed off on the idea with those trades they made.

St Louis needs to make the playoffs so we can get 3 1st round picks this year. Does anyone know how much cap room the Flames will have for next year? they should have quite a bit. Feaster will show how competent of a GM he is this summer, Calgary should be able to land a coupe free agents to hold the team until we get some more prospects in the lineup.

Jbo: $7m. Iggy: $7m. Comeau: $1m. There's $15m off the books. Now, the cap is going down by about $7m. So $8m free and clear. (Numbers all from memory, please don't crucify me if I'm not exact). The Flames were at the cap ceiling pretty much.

I also suspect we will not be re-signing several UFAs. That will add some more room.

$8-10m gives a hell of a lot of room to sign some decent guys. So long as we don't blow our wad on one or two overrated "stars" who come here just to suck.

My guess is, looking at the schedule, that Edmonton will come up short, and finish in 10th place or so. The teams they play for the rest of the season for the most part are better than they are.

With the changes to the cap, I expect that there is going to be a ton of buyouts, trades, and free agent signings this off-season.

It's the perfect time to see if the Oilers have enough smarts to find the veteran pieces they need to be a playoff team next year.

I've heard the number of 11 Million tossed around a few times, as the amount of cap space they should have after all the dust has settled.

I'm not big on free agents, but something Feaster said sounded positive... 'free agents, yes, but no more over the apex free agents'.

This summer is where we get to see how Feaster operates. I wouldn't mind it if they skipped the free agents and tanked it again for at least one more season. Another pick in the 3 or 4 would be nice.

If we can get MacKinnon or Jones, plus one or two more first round picks, plus a couple of decent FAs (none over the age of 30, please!), lose some of the deadweight to free agency/buyouts, and do something about our goaltending with the retirement of Kipper, next year may not be a total writeoff.

Haha, Habs win the season series with the Bruins 3-1.

PK Subban was too much for them, 32 pts in 32 games now.

Alex Galchenyuk is also starting to get comfortable with the NHL game. So dangerous...
