It's probably not a "restoration" as much as a "copmpletion of construction" as the seawall never existed along that stretch before (it ended at a chain link fence at the end of Harbour Green Park).

Here's a pic from 2004:

I think it's just what you see in Jimbo604's pic - a landing to accommodate the ramp from the Harbour Air dock. The pedestrian and bike paths should join up to the paths that ring the north side of the VCCEP.
Thank You for the welcome and information officedweller
At least now Harbour Air appears to have finally moved over to the new terminal with the old one towed away, the sea wall work should be done by the end of March according to the signs there, finally a great sea wall will be presented to the public in a first class way for their enjoyment without the mess of construction.

A canopy under a roof overhang... a bit redundant

Hopefully will be good for the area, bringing some life and walking traffic to the other new businesses in the convention centre.

It looks like, in fact, the new dock is going right beside the old one!

You can see it hooked up and in use by seaplanes.

I think that Jack Poole Plaza will be the only "active" plaza downtown (at least during sumnmer) - with restaurant patios spilling out onto it.

This confuses me. What are the other docks right in front of the convention center for?

Harbour Air agreed to move into the Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre, but still did not like the VHFC's docks - so I think they are building and using their own docks (about the same location as the temporary docks shown in the above pic)

So the VHFC docks will sit empty or will someone else use them?

There are other airlines that will use them - but presumably not to capacity.

So I guess my question is whether the new Harbour Air dock will attach to the VHFC docks or have a separate ramp from the seawall.

The answer will tell us whether the "landing" on the seawall shown in pics will connect to that blue ramp or whether the blue ramp will be demolished and that will just be a "lookout" on the seawall. It seems that they'll attach to the VHFC docks.

So much confusion over what is really simple.
The OLD docks are being dismantled and taken away (period).
HA has added an extra 3rd dock because the existing 2 new docks weren't enough.

A shame the extra dock sticks out like a sore thumb as opposed to integrated with the design of the new ones.

It either opens today or tomorrow. Think it's today but doesn't seem open yet.

Did you see the massive new signage? It's quite something.

I workout at Trevor Linden Club16 and walk past the new Cactus Club every day, I think the lettering and signage is very poorly conceived and applied. The letters are far too large and appear somewhat crooked against the metal grid to which they're applied. It looks sloppy and hastily done and could have been far better integrated, less is more!

That's pretty much what I meant, at least regarding the size and shape. I can't speak for the other elements, since I saw the signage in the background of a video.

That plaza will be getting a lot of TV time with all the events and such. I'm sure the CC folks had that in mind when opting for the huge signs.
I wonder if it's within the by-law guidelines.
