@hollywoodnorth: That has got to be human error. It is not like the seawall subsided.

@Jimbo604: Look at those greens in HG3! It totally makes that building standout apart.

Also thanks for the photos. It will be a relief for cyclists once they finish the connection.

Harbour Air operating out of the new dock(!)

Still operating out of the old dock. According to schedule provided by jlousa on Oct 2nd post to this thread they are supposed to cease this by Dec 31st.

Part of this dock may have already been removed.. hard to tell.

This barge has appeared. For the new dock perhaps? Or maybe just moving the existing Harbour Air dock over a bit? Who knows!

This new blue crane has appeared where the gap between the convention centre seawall and the existing seawall is.

New iron scaffolding in the water.

The piles and iron beams are for a new wall jog that will connect the existing seawall together. The barge is placing anchors for the 3rd dock.

Someone had asked about renders for the Marina buildings that was (is?) supposed to be built in front of the Convention Centre -

Renders at the MCMP website here:

http://www.mcmparchitects.com/portfolio/prototypes/32

Given that one of them says "Vancouver Harbour Terminal" - and the new terminal is on land, not on the docks - my guess is that these buildings will not be built.

Jan 2: Seawall connection work actively being worked on.

Jan 2: Harbour Air planes at old dock. Operations were supposed to stop here by Dec 31st according to City of Vancouver plan.

Jan 2: Barge is there, but no sign of new dock yet.

The shape of the filler piece is confusing me. Are they placing flowers or something on the part that sticks out... or what?

Looks like it's a landing for the blue steel gangway.
The white gangway to the side (angled) is likely temporary.

Of interest:

Seaplane operator in Seattle's Lake Union wants an easement allowing seaplane noise from property owners who are planning to build condo towers along the flight path:

http://seattletimes.com/html/localnews/2020179790_seaplaneflightpathxml.html

Quote:
When it comes to noise, Kenmore executives are nervous about what they’ve observed in British Columbia.

In Victoria, the James Bay Neighbourhood Association has raised a ruckus about seaplane and helicopter noise and emissions.

“The issue is no longer one of residential buildings being compatible with an airport, but rather, whether an airport is compatible with residential communities…,” said a 2011 report by the neighborhood group.

The report also called for the city to study aircraft pollution, lobby to end charter tourist flights and install permanent noise monitors.

With this backdrop in mind, Kenmore has asked Vulcan, which wants to build the three 24-story towers, to notify new residents that they couldn’t initiate nuisance complaints against seaplanes for legal and normal flights. Kenmore, which only flies between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on weekdays, contends such a guarantee must come from property owners, not local officials.

A spokeswoman for Vulcan, Paul Allen’s real-estate firm, said the company is looking into the possibility of such an easement at Kenmore’s request.

First time I've ever hear of a "noise easement".

Where will the new dock eventually go? Where the new seaplane terminal is?

Yes. According to city hall development permit plans the above dock will be positioned, eventually, on the Stanley park side of the new Sea Plane terminal.

It's already positioned and finished. All they have to do is attach the ramp.
In process of dismantling the old docks right now.

Well, it's too bad the city removed the relevant document containing the plans:

Smile Sea Wall by the Sea Plane terminal

Is there any info anywhere in terms of what the nature of the sea wall restoration will entail where the old sea plane terminal used to be.?

As well how far along that sea wall will said restoration include?

Thanks for any information you all may be able to provide.

Welcome to the forum.

It's probably not a "restoration" as much as a "copmpletion of construction" as the seawall never existed along that stretch before (it ended at a chain link fence at the end of Harbour Green Park).

Here's a pic from 2004:
http://www.globalairphotos.com/large/BC/Vancouver/Downtown/2004/529/2

I think it's just what you see in Jimbo604's pic - a landing to accommodate the ramp from the Harbour Air dock. The pedestrian and bike paths should join up to the paths that ring the north side of the VCCEP.
