Nice to see some turbines in SK, i wonder which crane company will supply the crane to assemble the turbine? At this height of 73meters you are talking about a quick 750 ton crawler crane.

I don't know anything about cranes but there is already a big ass crawler crane in town installing the girders for the pinkie road overpass on west #1

Oh, good to hear! Last I heard there wasn't. The U of S has the bus pass (at around 50% off of the regular) included in tuition, and it's your decision to opt out. Students are currently pushing for a summer pass too which I hope passes.

Isn't it pretty much mandatory for U of R students to get the bus pass too? I though I remember a big debate over this a couple years ago.

I believe that debate ended with mandatory bus passes being turned down and it being more of an opt in type measure.

I snapped a few picks of the condo going up just off of Albert Street by La Bodega. Man this condo went up fast. Glad to see that it is not a stucco build.

I also noticed one of the buildings on Albert just south of Bombay restaurant had a city application sign in front for a night club, anyone know what this might be?

Finally, there is a city application sign in front of the FCC tower for Agriculture Place. This must be going in front of city hall soon, and we'll likely see some new renders along with it. Anyone know when this will be going in front of city council?

Don't know how we would ever know without checking with land titles. I can also imagine that negotiations for such a sale could take months.

Going to planning commission on Wednesday. Council a couple of weeks later.

Just a little FYI about multiple towers that were planned and never built:

Rainbow Towers on Lockwood Rd and Gordon Rd was originally planned to be two - 10 storey buildings with the outdoor pool in-between. Of course only one was built.

What was formerly known as Tower Gardens on Broadway and Winnipeg (I forget what its new name is), was originally planned to be three - 10 storey buildings to have been built along Broadway. Only the one was built.

Also, on Rae St in the south end there are those four dark brown brick - 6 storey apartment buildings (now condos) that were known as Woodcrest Village. The plan was for a 5th building at the south end which was to have book-ended the complex with this building turned 90 degrees to the middle three - the same way the most northerly building is turned 90 degrees.

And just a block away where the Westfield Twins are (those two six storey condos on Gordon and Rae, they were originally planned to have been around 12 floors.

A lot of this was due to the economy of the day. Had it been as buoyant as it is now I am sure these would have all been completed.
