The north side is really bland. No wonder they never show it in the renders. And it will be 25-30m taller than the Rocabella twins which isn't nothing... I do like the verticality though.

This link gives a better idea of what the new St. John's proposal will look like, the parking lot in the front is sadly part of the church in the area so it will be there till going to church eventually dies off.

I'm really excited about L'Avenue and I'm shocked to see something this good from Page+Steele, a Toronto-based firm known for designing cheap shlock.

Page+Steele originally used this design for a proposal at 355 King Street West in Toronto (which is now the site for the proposed King Blue Hotel and Condos, also by Page+Steele):

Though I still wish it had stayed in Toronto, I think that it will end up looking better in Montreal's skyline then it would have in Toronto's. We already have so much glass in that part of town, that the effect of the contrasting glass in this design would be weakened by the surrounding glass condos.

Oh, and given that this is a Page+Steele design, be forewarned that it might get spandreled to death.

Montreal's proposal is gorgeous. It's something that would also look very good at 60-100m tall here as well.

The bland northern side looks indeed like spandrel city. Fortunately, it will be hidden by the 40-storeys Rocabella.

From the one rendering I've seen, Rocabella isn't much better. It looks like something that you'd find in North York.

Here is what the site looks like as of yesterday. Once they're done with demo construction will begin.

I have to agree, Rocabella does not deserve the lot that it is on. I wanted a high quality office building for that spot.

If it were up to me, I'd put the Rocabella twins where the Tours Lépine are and move the Tours Lépine (the ugliest 2000s high-rises in the city of Montreal bar none) to Longueuil...

SAINT-LAMBERT | Le Maxence | 8 floors
Location: Riverside between Argyle and Lorne.

This project will go on sale next month. They started demolition work on the existing apartment buildings last year but then stopped it... The project is located near Saint-Lambert's downtown, and faces Montreal. I don't know what to make of it, to be quite honest. There are no glass building in Saint-Lambert whatsoever (everything is brick...)

My favourite and probably te most underrated hotel in MTL in that shot, Hotel le Crystal. The shorter tower with the egg shaped dome on top. Next time you guys visit make sure you consider it. The saltwater pool and hot tub on the roof with spectacular views of downtown make it worth the price!

I like the Victoria lowrises, and whatever is going on in Montreal I'm almost sure to like it !
That Montreal proposal reminds me a little of the Residences at Hotel Georgia tower in Vancouver, although it's different.
