Not sure what has all been talked about here. But usually there are height restrictions within the area around airports. So a 10 odd storey tower may be hard to slide in at the airport.

True. As per YQR's 2007-2027 Master Plan, there is a proposition for a 10-storeyish hotel. Winnipeg has a hotel of similar height [8 floors?]/old Control Tower [9 floors] alongside; Calgary has two hotels, one of which is actually very tall for an airport.

It would be nice to see that in Regina as well!

Exactly. No more "looming" than Roberts Plaza, IMHO.

. . . . . . and it's not like Wascana Park would be completely surrounded by highrises anyway. (Unlike New York's Central Park.)

Really? If there's one building in this city I really dislike, it's Roberts Plaza.

If you've got 20 minutes to kill, here's a link to video of a presentation an urban planner from Vancouver gave in Seattle recently on strategies that a city needs to follow if it's serious about increasing density in the downtown and promoting an improved quality of urban life.

Just happened to be at the NormanView Mall this morning and the old Blockbuster video store is being transformed into a Rock Creek Bar and Grill.

Also, just had a thought as I was driving past the SGI Tower this morning. I wonder what the feasibility is of connecting it to the Delta via the top of the Cornwall Centre and developing the whole area into a large convention centre/shopping complex. This would allow for use of the upper level of the Cornwall Centre. I say this, as on first blush, I think the SGI building is better suited to conversion to hotel use as opposed to condos. Office towers don't seem to convert well into condos in my opinion-they almost always look like a office bulding with people squatting in them.

Do you mean the Rogers Video at Normanview Crossing? OR the old Blockbuster on Rochdale?

Also, I agree that the old SGI building would make an awesome Hotel...attached to the mall and the casino etc and already has some underground parking...maybe it could be part of a larger renovation to the Cornwall that could see a third level...with a new cinema, and new stores...ah well. Dare to dream.....lol.

This interchange is identical to the full build-out proposed at Pinky and #1 Highway, just have to think E-W direction in this view is N-S in our condition and you get the look.
