^Yup, I actually hope it doesn't go ahead. Look at the podium, there isn't even retail or shops on street level, and this is not any street it's St-Paul street, apparently. It's essentially a tall subdivision.

Maybe it's just me, but I can't tell you how excited I'd be if someone was offering to build a facsimile of the CN Tower in my yard and I wouldn't even have to pay for it.

Add to the list of buildings where the mass betrays the implied shape:

So a buildings shape is actually just an implication of it's actual shape. Now I get it lol.

A Calgary development company so we blame you.

But if they simply changed the colour pallet and increased the height of the main it would at least reduce the gag reflex.

New rendering for the Habs tower, the tower has recently gained 2 more floors, making for a total of 50.

Last I heard there was actually going to be a habs logo. Nothing is set in stone though.

Also regarding the 2 floors. The building will see some additional height but it is not yet confirmed if it will be 2 full floors worth or if there will be height savings throughout the rest of the building.

We LOVE our earth and pastels.

There is actually some reasoning to it though... although executed poorly. We have a northern climate and similar to Scandinavia we should have more colour in our urban design to offset the longer white winter vista, but it can be done much better.

A little update about the Hilton Garden Inn proposal for St. John's:

Jeddy1989, Copes, and I attended a public hearing tonight about the rezoning (from Heritage Residential to Commercial). All three of us spoke in support of the proposal and were mobbed by the media afterward - CBC, NTV, The Telegram, VOCM, etc.

We pushed the number of people who spoke in support of the meeting to 5, versus 4 who spoke opposed. Afterward, many of the other residents in attendance came to congratulate us for participating, as young people, and some even to say they agree with us.

All I can say is that the design is not finished yet. The same people doing this hotel are the ones who are doing our brilliant Star of the Sea Condo. I am confident that I will be pleased with the final design. At the meeting, they specifically mentioned doing away with the blank wall.

We just had a brilliant time - and we really did make a difference. We're very excited to see the papers/newscasts tomorrow and see what tone they take now, as opposed to the usual, "Residents opposed to development proposal" stories we've been getting.

The inaugural outing of the St. John's Steel-toe Boot Squad (a response to the local slang term for NIMBYs: the Rubber Boot Crowd) was a resounding success.

You are making quite a difference by your particpation and support for proper development in St. John's, so my congrats to you guys for that. Now the bad news - It's ironic that this design proposal is one of the worst ever presented for the city of St.John's. There is still hope though, and now a need and responsibity to try to ensure that the design outcome is not totally hideous as it was presented; I really don't see faux heritage facades and fake windows as much of a design solution.
