And it's also a bit of a miracle, as Light-rail is very controversial here in North America.

And Edmonton was what? 450 000 when theirs opened? I read something about it ages ago but I forget. Either way, very cool for Waterloo Region to be doing this in the modern era when rail transit has become so stigmatized.

Really now? I didn't think it effected all forms of rail transit, only LRT... Out of curiosity though, why is rail transit so stigmatized right now?

Light rail is only really controversial in Ontario because nobody knows what the hell it is. It is extremely common in the US and only sees opposition from people who oppose anything that isn't new highway and call it a "boondoggle"

Ottawa's and Hamiltons LRT lines have gone over rather smoothly I think. It's only really Toronto and Kitchener that have run into problems.

The 30 St-Jacques (web site here) is a new condo project in Old Montreal. It is right by Place d'Armes, which is one of the most prestigious historic square of the city. It will be located on an existing surface parking, one of the very few in the old district, but one that plagued the area for many many decades.

^ That's a nice project, very well integrated. It looks a lot like a typical infill project in Europe. I just hope that the northern side does not have balconies. IMO, balconies are out of place in Old Montreal.

Here is a concept render of the actual hub, however, planning is still ongoing, and this may not be the final design:

At the bottom right of the previous image is a placeholder for a residential development. It is called 1 Victoria, 19 floors, Momentum developments, ABA architects. Here is an image from the website:

Awesome. I'd love to see this get some traction with developers. So much potential right around King/Victoria. It will look very different 25 years from now.

Good quantity of infill projects in Hamilton, but fuck me, many of them are so ugly.
