As for evergreen... we're still waiting for that optimal 'just before the election' timing for an announcement.

Well, it's as overdue as the Evergreen Line. To proceed just as the Evergreen Line reaches the finish line would be quite optimal. On the other hand, if the earlier mentions about the single bored tunnel as opposed to dual tunnel setup are true, I'm curious how that'd affect bored tunnelling on Broadway then.

Hmm... the RFQ estimated that the contract for the prime contractor would be worth somewhere between 900-million to 1-billion. In the end, the contract turn out to be 889-million. I wonder how this would affect the 1.4-billion overall budget...

It has always been TransLink's responsibility. The prime contractor is only responsible for guideway, tunnel, station, tracks, OMC, testing and commission.

And just realized.. The main construction work for Evergreen Line at 81M/km is now officially cheaper than Calgary's West LRT (88M/km)

The Evergreen website cites the following funding sources:

Capital costs for the Evergreen Line are estimated at $1.4 billion.
■The Province is contributing $583 million
■The federal contribution is $417 million
■TransLink is contributing $400 million

If it has come in under-budget - hopefully the savings will accrue to TransLink - as a "cost efficiency"
- and help with TransLink's funding shortfall.

What? Corrigan pleased with ... the Province?
Also shows what negotiations can accomplish rather than protest rallies and foot stomping.

It would be unsightly, but it would be nice for the "town centre" to have more than one station. It would also help focus development on the Coquitlam side of North Road. I still think a side of road allignment would have been best, but being the municipal boundary, neither side wanted to bear the overshadowing of the guideway.

Any more news on the future Cameron Station?
BTW - the contract announced is for 7 stations (i.e. including Lincoln)

Ugh...this has to happen after stock market hours, isn't it...I guess those who obsessively watch SNC stock from the office for news is so left behind that a over enthusiastic youngling from Surrey would be the first to break the news for us...

Joking aside, I'm glad its finally done!
