New Service Center ---Lynden International, a full-service freight forwarding and logistics company, opened a new service center in Edmonton, Alberta January 1st, 2013. Showing FedEx 234 Memphis-Edmonton operating as a A300-600 Freighter this morning? This route just switched to the A310 freighter, thinking its filling in for a broken 310?

Not that anyone can confirm this as of yet. But I'm hearing WestJet Encore will be introducing Seattle to the westjet network. Seems a logical choice with Q400's.

Going up against Horizon, or whoever does the Seattle run currently? Would be sad to lose Horizon and their network beyond, no?

Horizon operates to SEA from both YEG and YYC with the Q400.

How about Portland (PDX) from YEG and YYC? I know Jazz operates it seasonally with a CRJ from YYC (summer only).

I dont think Tuffy said anything about service between YEG and SEA. Westjet would be foolish to offer such a service.

Getting back to westjet encore I'm fairly certain we will see similar moves on exsisting routes that have been made by Air Canada express. I assume from YEG we will see encore serving YMM, YQU, YXE, YQR etc. Albeit we will likely see frequency increases on several of these routes with the Q400's. This obviously will free up 737's and I believe we will see the possibility of new flights with the 737's to new destinations primarily to the U.S from YYC, YVR, YYZ and YEG. I think we will also see the Q400's adding a few transborder markets aswell. As mentioned I have heard Seattle will be among the new destinations seeing Q400 service, from YEG? (don't dismiss it.)

It should be a interesting announcement regardless, and I'm excited to see where it takes WestJet.

It is very exciting indeed, lots of opportunities for the major Alberta centres. I'm hoping to get a bit of an insider scoop in a couple of weeks, of course I wouldn't be able to say anything here (shucks).

Transborder had a great year, hopefully the EWR flight does well. Does anyone know when the Encore announcement is?

Excellent numbers indeed, exciting times for YEG be it with flights, hotel/expansion and ancillary development that is really making YEG feel like the international airport we have always wanted.

My dream would be to be part of those conversations and route planning down there in Calgary. Exciting times as you say for sure for YYC/YVR/YEG.

Announcement about Encore in February not January per WS as of yesterday, I'm keenly looking forward to seeing the changes this will cause on the landscape of the industry in the next few years.

Air Transat also has some plans. Whether YEG will see any increase in service remains to be seen.

"If Air Transat decides to operate the narrowbody planes, between six and 14 aircraft would be added to its fleet of 23 Airbus A310 and A330s. The move could lead to the recall of some of the 50 pilots and hundreds of flight attendants who were laid off after Air Transat decided to reduce its capacity."

Now this is interesting...Harper gives our tax dollars to Saskatchewan airports to attract non-stop flights to Europe. Lets hope the hat is being passed to YEG as well.
