No, that is your consensus. I actually also very much like the Aderhold Learning Center, and think it fits perfectly into Downtown. Why so critical? This IS an urban Campus we're talking about here.

What - we're not allowed to criticize buildings because they are on an urban campus?

And Aderhold is mediocre too, especially the way it addresses Luckie St.

Of course. But you claimed there was a consensus where there is none. And Aderhold is a very nice building by any measure, and indeed does blend well into the neighborhood. I'll take it any day over what it replaced.

It's called hyperbole.

Anyhow, I'm glad you are fond of Aderhold...and Petit. And I hope that Georgia State builds more buildings that are pleasing to most in the future.

And go Falcons!

Thank you for at least ensuring some creativity! Look at the developers portfolio: http://www.audgllc.com/portfolio/experience
Cookie cutter student housing is their bread and butter. I'd compare Ambling's One12 with what Novare is doing with their Skyhouse concept.

Whether you like GSU's buildings or not, they're significantly better than what was there before them (parking lots). I can't wait for the new law school being built at the top of John Wesley Dobbs by Peachtree. I envisage JWD eventually becoming lined with GSU buildings, and hopefully the area can become something akin to Tech Square.

Any idea of the perspectives there? I'm guessing for the Perennial property from the top: 1) from North Ave., 2) from the Beltline. But I'm not sure about the AMLI property. Which of those is the North Ave. frontage vs. Morgan?

77 12th St. Topping Out

Work on the 22nd floor continues: http://youtu.be/gQeavcVxV04

In terms of # of floors 77 12th Street has topped out... The street level retail will be amazing! Huge windows & a brick facade covering up a (once again) large parking deck. IMO Daniel Corp. & Selig Enterprises are doing a nice job keeping the deck "tucked" away & out of mind. A typical consumer will be focused on the retail and street level amenities (trees, bike & dog parking). As a certified City Nut I'll still be wishing they had put the deck underground... Yes it serves a dual function, yes it's decent looking, yes it can be covered up by foliage (1100 Peachtree's deck fronting Crescent has an ivy covering and is beautiful) but still... Another apartment pedestal... Do we even have any buried parking decks in ATL?

Circle Terminus Apts Site Prep

Yes, I can confirm site preparation has begun: http://youtu.be/lo74kZAIDpg

Crescent Resources LLC is beginning site development of Circle Terminus, a $67 million apartment project on a three-acre site at the Cousins Properties’ Terminus development. Three eight-story buildings()—three levels of parking topped by five stories of apartments—will take its inspiration from the existing contemporary buildings in the Terminus development. All together, the development will include 355 units. Circle Terminus will be LEED certified once complete. Lord Aeck & Sargent of Atlanta is the project architect.

100 6th St Site Prep Continues

Meanwhile on Juniper St... Novare continues site preparation on 100 6th St. Our fav old bars have been reduced to rubble: http://youtu.be/7Ght5Z65jaw

I'm wishing (in vaine) that they will somehow incorporate the old stone retaining wall and steps along Juniper and 7th into the design of the project. It looks like it was built in the 1920's and would give the project a great sense of character. Knowing this developer, I'm sure that they will knock it down (since the tree's marked for death) and give us a mundane concrete wall for a massive parking deck. Skyhouse style!

Some good news in the Peachtree and Pines Shelter soap opera. Does anyone know what this means, and if it will have an immediate effect on the shelter, or knows what will happen next?

Georgia State law school building tops state bond package

Georgia State University and the state’s medical college are big beneficiaries of $713.4 million in bonds recommended Thursday by Gov. Nathan Deal.

The bond package, part of the governor’s $19.8 billion fiscal 2014 budget request, includes $58.8 million for a law school building at Georgia State and $45 million for a cancer research building for Georgia Regents University in Augusta

12th & Midtown is gaining ground

Atlanta developers Daniel Corp. and Selig Enterprises Inc. are assembling land to expand their 12th & Midtown project with more retail and apartments.

In the past few months, Daniel and Selig have put about an additional 4 acres under control within a five-block radius of 12th & Midtown, including tracts along Peachtree Street, West Peachtree Street and Crescent Avenue.

They have also put offers on additional parcels around the heart of their development. They did not disclose any projected sales prices, because they are still in final negotiations.
