I love this idea for a thread because it doesn't just have to be tall buildings. Any of the little awesome ones can be posted too! I wish we had a few more in Calgary than we do. Since the Devonian Gardens was just rebuilt/reopened this year, maybe I'll take a pic of that today during my shopping adventure.

I love this building as well but I really wish both sides of the building looked like what's posted above:

I guess this would be considered "mixed-use".

Outside of Halifax: the Bow (office, Calgary). I thought this was completed before 2012 though.
I love this building, great choice

There is a Catholic Highscool in Milliken (Markham) that looks a bit like this. It reminds me of ugly bathroom tiles.

For insitutional in Toronto it's Bridgepoint Health.

I love how this hospital hangs off the side of the valley and how they've reused the old Don Jail. I like how they'll be tearing down the current jail but I'm a little sad they won't be keeping the 1960's moon shaped hospital.

Beautiful building. Almost looks like Arabic writing.

Aside from the obvious skyscrapers, I'm not too sure what's been completed this year, though I know these ones were:

But as far as those skyscrapers go, I'd say the best is a toss up between Absolute World and the Bow.

Me too. I love the Fafard cow as well. A little bit of rural Saskatchewan in the middle of chic Montreal! That’s Canada.

For Laval:
I like these new Viva Condos... I think only phase 1 has been built, but I like the style.

I'm probably a bit biased but I'm going to go with the Bow overall.

Funkiest bldg, the UBC Pharmaceutical bldg
best transformed bldg, easily the Ritz Carlton in Montreal.

Perhaps a tie between the S+P UBC building and Kongats Architects Terrence Donnelly Health Sciences Complex at UTM.

Thanks for posting all the great examples above.
I also agree that The Bow and Absolute World are probably the top buildings of the year, at least for skyscrapers.

For London I'd say the best building completed this year would probably be Revo on King, Tower One:

(Pics by me)

It doesn't really look like anything special, but it's a step forward for London. The second tower is currently under construction. The development, along with a seniors apartment building, is helping to bring more residents to a sketchy neighbourhood just east of downtown.

Nice Vancouver building. I like that wood is making a come back as a cool material.

I saw some pictures of Nova Scotia Power's new building before that just seemed... off. There was something unattractive in the proportions.

But Hali's after shots are gorgeous. The ones I saw before must have been unusually cropped or something because I now LOVE that building.

It and the Ritz in Montreal are my favourite ones that used old structures so far.

Wood looks good as long as it is maintained. I've never liked the look of weathered wood.
