heard the rumour of this one last week. YMM has just reconfigured the baggage hall to transform to a customs hall after hours. the thought of standing outdoor to clear customs on a cold winternight is not apealing. at least until the new terminal is opened.

As some one else mentioned, at 1700 for direct and 600 for one stop...I think this will discourage anyone who isn't wealthy, a business traveller, or desperate from using the direct... Do these prices level out over time? I am not a frequent flyer nor am I in the industry, so I don't understand an 1100 dollar price difference either than possibly initial demand for a new service drives the price up?
For a hub flight, the airline's price to add an incremental passenger is the marginal cost, which is very low until they either have to upguage the airplane, or add another frequency. For a direct flight, the passengers have to pay the full price. The airline is likely just testing prices for now, should level out for booking a normal economy seat in time once the route is operating once the airline knows it can fill the business cabin and count on a certain number of full fare economy last minute bookings. If those passengers don't show up over time the flight will be cut.

I have a friend flying out to Houston on United/Continental on the redeye (23:53) from Gate 74. He says its in the US "Zone" per the map. But I know US Customs is shut then. The map does show Gate 74 in the US Zone. Is this area open at that time of the night "without customs agents operating"? Or is access through Central Hall and glass wall moved to block off past Gate 74 to secure the US Zone area? I imagine he will clear US Customs in Houston with his bags, before his connecting flight on United/TED to Mexico. Also I think he can not buy liquor at EIA post security as would need to go through Houston security screening again. Anyone know?

Super happy to hear about the new flight to EWR! I am actually headed to New York through IAH, so too bad it wasn't already there! (PHL was WAY less points to book than JFK or EWR through my aeroplan, and with a free upgrade to business class. I'll take the train and see another city in the process!)

Gate74 I believe is a swing gate so it can be accessed either from transbrder r domestic. If he is connecting in Houston and clearing customs I am fairly certain he will go through security, so only small bottles (100ml) unless he puts it in checked luggage.

Good news prices have been loaded, I was quoted $688 for a non-stop to EWR for my holiday.
^ Also, if you are running lots of searches the behavioural pricing on the sites will usually knock the prices up, especially if you continually refuse to follow through on non-direct flights with a good price! (Also book using private or incognito mode for the best prices I find, and don't enter your frequent flyer card until the end)
Milley said the airport is still seeking more direct destinations.

He said “Frankfurt or Amsterdam would be two great gateways” in addition to the current direct Air Canada flight to and from London.
The airport is also working on an Asian strategy for direct flights, but that would probably start with charter service.
In fact, I don't think Martinair operates as a passenger airline anymore. It now exists as a strictly all-cargo airline.

At EIA right now, waiting for my flight to Kelowna. Impressive, they did a really nice job on the expansion. The hotel is coming along nicely as well. Lots of new shops and services.. very bright and airy.
