The downtown has never seen three cranes at a single site, eh?
Interesting. I think in my deep memory I recall as a kid seeing a bunch of cranes building the original two towers and base of Scotia Sqaure. Anyone else old enough to remember that?
Or pictures even!

Old enough to remember looking into the windows off Duke St. entrance before it opened, but don't remember the actual building of the site, although I was old enough to watch.

i would expect to have 2 sites with 3 cranes at one time once the convention center starts up... mind you that site may require 4... we can only hope..

Interesting, I never knew Cogswell Tower was a steel building? I thought we only built highrises around here using concrete.

I wonder, since it is steel, could it ever be built upwards (if the viewplanes allow of course)!

Funny how close it is to the street given how big the site is. I wonder what their rationale for this placement of the 3 cranes is? One concern is that they want coverage of the whole site but they can't have the cranes bumping into each other. Maybe they also take other factors like prevailing winds into account.

They are also staggered hight wise. So as long as you keep the cable near the top when they are not being used it should be fine

cranes

I was walking north on Queen St at Morris yesterday (nice and sunny)and there was a fantastic picture with 3 cranes, 1 from the library and 2 Citadel Inn. I don't carry a camera.

This was the image mentioned. The 4th crane comment was in reference to the mobile crane installing the crane base.

Looking at the webcam, many pieces of the third crane are now on site, I suspect it will be up this weekend.
