Starbucks would be the "trend", and by saying "buck" it, I feel like it's not necessarily Starbucks but rather someone who is promoting anything but. Not completely certain as to what they are getting at.

It could be that the "trend" is the lack of Starbucks in Regina. In any case, it's rather ambiguous.

Personally, I find Green Spot to be the best coffee shop in Regina. Friendly staff, good coffee, great muffins, and cinnamon buns worth killing for.

I will definitely agree on the cinnamon buns (only thing I've had from there)... Absolutely fantastic.

You guys all beat me to it with the Starbucks speculation. I saw it on my busride home but didn't snap a photo quick enough...

I would suggest that it is in fact a Starbucks and the "trend" to buck would be Tim Horton's, of which we are getting another on Park and Dewdney... I personally hate Starbucks coffee but I think it, or another decent quality coffee shop would add to the atmosphere along 11th...What would it mean for Second Cup though? I'd hate to lose a Canadian option with the addition of an American one.

If CTV is thinking of re-locating, perhaps downsizing a little, how about lobbing them ( Downtown Assc. or whatever it's called ) to locate downtown. Thinking something like a storefront location.( C.B.C in Saskatoon is right downtown on 2nd Ave) How cool would it look if they were to build on Victoria Ave. between Hamilton & Rose St. Filling in this "gap" downtown would be quite impressive. They could be broadcasting live in front of floor to ceiling glass windows right in the heart of the city!! Don't know who owns this property, but having it sit in it's present state does nothing for our downtown!!

The for lease signs were left up in the new Lululemon store until they had they official announcement so wouldn't assume it is not leased. Maybe the lease takes affect Dec 1, who knows. I will point out that the font on the sign looks very similar to the font Starbucks uses. Large companies spend millions on developing their brand and it includes everything from font to colors to logos. So put me in the 'it;s gonna be a starbucks' camp..

If they did move I'd presume it would be as you describe. (CBC Saskatoon, by the way, has outgrown its 2nd Ave location and is moving to the former Affinity Credit Union on 4th.)

I've heard people talking about the Chapter's Starbucks decertifying their union recently. They aligned with the Canadian Auto Workers Union back in 2006 (who knows why they chose that one...) but there was some dissention behind the counter from baristas paying high union fees and not seeing any benefit from it. I think they voted to remove the union...

I guess I could just ask one of the baristas the next time I'm there and get a straight answer on it, but I have a feeling that the union is gone and that's why Starbucks now has a desire to start opening new locations in Regina.

It has been 11 days since brightsar annouced sask power would be doing work on the site soon. Haven't seen anyone there at all???

Another note, i just remebered someone posted on here a while back about the massive rose tower and said construction was to begin in early 2013. He was told this becuase the parking lot where he/a freind parks had notices saying it was going to be closed come the end of december. Just wondering if that same poster could confirm more about this , Cuz the end of december is approaching. Possible see that and CP at the same time!!

That poster was me! I have not heard anything since so not sure if they are still moving forward with this or not. Another poster said they were trying to land FCC and since FCC is now expanding into the soon to be built Agriculture Place that this may not move forward, but that was more of a rumour. Maybe someone should contact the company and find out what the deal is with the proposed building?

There was a link to Sask Tenders posted somewhere and the tender for the closes Dec 6th. I doubt there would be much work going on with the tender still open.

Wow, this is the first evidence I've seen of actually work taking place since the Plains was demolished. If nothing else, this will get the work done for whoever eventually does develop the property.

Yup, I feel the same. At least this gets the property ready for development by whomever. Although I think they will want to be the ones doing the development. I'm sure they wouldn't want to spend all that money to demolish the plains and reroute the electrical only to hand it over to someone else as basically a development gift.

I really hope that Regina's [next] tallest building occupies that vacant space/lot. It would be perfect there!

Knowing how CTV sucks all the money out of the Regina station and puts nothing back in (e.g. my phone taked better quality video than their TV cameras), they are no doubt looking to save money here. Look for them to end up in an industrial area like Global. I expect they will be cashing out on their large chunk of land on the Trans Canada now that values out there have sky rocketted.
