^^I've always liked the copper element on top of the melville (sans the glass sail), especially in the above view with the mountains/ocean beyond.... it's a very west-coast composition.

Jesus you're like a gnat. I don't know where I even mentioned the St. Charles river anyway, we were talking about the Bow and the Thames/Siene. Go away.

You may be right about their respective distances to downtown, but the obvious thing that should be pointed out is that comparing the Don River to the QC river was silly in the first place. The QC river appears to have been canalized to create a pleasant urban environment and had a recreational promenade and parkland and as a result was quite attractive. So naturalizing it was something of a loss. The Don on the other hand (the southern part near lake Ontario) had long been a scuzzy industrial area with a major highway running along it and was canalized to drain the swamp area to make way for industry. So doing almost anything to it would be an improvement.

Naturalizing a scuzzy industrial river and naturalizing an attractive urban recreational river are not remotely the same thing.

All in the eye of the beholder I guess. Personally, I dont like seeing white, dead fish bellies float by when im in a river.......

He made a fair point though. Of course, I'm always in favour of au naturel, hence mostly making fun of a few SSP fanboys for their knee-jerk hard-on for all things traditionally-regressively-urban, and of course their flustered responses when called out.
