^ I suppose... I'd rather spend $150k (or whatever they're starting at) on a 30 year old concrete highrise than on that though.

I guess some folks really want a 'new' place.. not a 'new-to-them'... in either instance though, buyer beware!


Speaking of sketchy... has anyone seen how that Fusion on Whyte is going up ? It looks like it's being built out of pods, or modules.


Oh, and you're right, that Dub job on 7th looks like something has happened... they've stripped the ashalt off and it looks like they were excavating to find services

Well, It won't be the worse thing in this area, but far from the best.

The blue panels look like they are off the side of an industrial warehouse or something...

On a better note, that cool modern infill in Crestwood (south of TD Bank, Delux, etc) has started excavating the foundation.

Old gravel parking lot of the Central Tabernacle site. I'd love to see the plan for the NE corner of that block get off the ground. Now that Time is belly-up, who is holding that site?

Newest email from ultima has an exterior update. All stucco in the original design is being replaced by glass. Someone with ultima must be a member of skyscraper page, lol. Realized the hate on people have for stucco...

^ they had an ad running on the radio last week advertizing the grand opening... sounds like the place will be even d-baggier than it's previous incarnation. Still... can't be any worse than the "country" bars in Calgary... those places are sewers, complete with the worst type of patrons.

I got that e-mail too.. assume they mean that they'll be using spandrel panels where the stucco was.... I thought that this tower was actually an example of stucco done right... but hey, at least now we can say we've got an all-cutrain wall tower in the city

As you are aware City Council, at its October 29, 2012 public hearing, asked the Administration to present its proposed Zoning Bylaw amendments (Bylaw 16271) for 50 ft wide lot subdivision and other low density residential zone changes to Executive Committee on January 28, 2013.

In response to the considerable interest in this matter Sustainable Development is holding an open house on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall lobby.
The open house will provide the opportunity for the public and our stakeholders to find out about, and offer comments on the proposed bylaw changes. WOW... just stepped outside for a quick smoke with the boss, got physically assaulted by a crazy guy who seemed to think I had a shotgun under my jacket and that I worked for some sort of secret government department... Luckily he was loaded and obviously mentally not there at all (and I had about a foot and 50lbs on the guy) so was able to take care of the situation, but could have been pretty scary for someone who was less able to defend themselves. Need more cops on foot in DT.

Cold - I heard the stucco was being removed from part of the rear podium primarily. Not sure where else.
