Wow, thanks for the photo summary of waterfront / exchange district construction! That makes for a great photo essay of the progress in that area; I've got my eye on that Sunstone hotel for future workshops I'll undoubtedly have to organize, with a group dinner at the new Brazilian steakhouse, or Hermanos, or Baileys, or one of the other great restaurants in the area.

Saw an ad for the Dubrovnik condo development on the big electronic ad board which faces southbound traffic on Pembina Highway this morning.

Also, fencing is going up around X-lot at the University of Manitoba (parking lot in front of Frank Kennedy) for the new athletic centre construction site.
I'm really looking forward to when that opens (and so is my two-graduate degree gut).

They are advertising on e-billboard coming over Queen Elizabeth bridge (Marion & StMary's) too. I hope that project gets enough pre-sales to proceed. I won't be living there (2 young kids) but it will be a nice Wpg project!

Yeah the boutique hotel in that area is going to do wonders in general, especially in the context you mention

on another note this is starting to really piss me off finaly they boarded it but god damit its a bleeping health hazzard walking past it as the sidewalks just coverd in pidgeon crap disgusting and reeks and i imagin the nieghbors in fairchild hate it and the people in the new penthouse lofts must be anoyed.....

Also they are setting up barricades and equipment in the parking lot in front of the Convention Centre, there is a D Condo sign up on site and this week the sidewalk upgrades in Donald St reached the entrance of the Millennium Library.

I believe that building is owned by the owners of the Fairchild Lofts.

Interesting that is says the project is on hold until an architect is retained.

I thought Number10 was working on this one already?

I actually think youre on to something, cause, i remember a few pages back True Viking mentioning this project like he knew of it or saw rendering. He said its gonna be huge. You should see if you can search for more details.

Thanks P.Horosh. Just one clarification - it's the Harbourmaster Building incorporated into the boutique hotel, not the Pump House. The Pump House is to the west across Waterfront Drive.

The Harbourmaster Building as it as now know is actually a pump intake structure for the pumphouse. Correct me if I'm wrong but the pumphouse was part of Winnipeg's early fire fighting infrastructure.

The Harbourmaster Building presently houses the level gauge for the James Avenue datum.

There is a rendering up on a billboard located just west of the corner of James & waterfront.

Chocolate factory for The Forks? interesting idea, I think! I was in San Fran recently and they have a huge sourdough bread plant on the waterfront with huge windows and people just stare and watch it all. pretty cool actually.

Boudin Bakery? Yeah, that place is pretty cool. The forks could use something like that; or one of those bakery-delicatessans that has hundreds of pastry / meat options, pies, kisches, salads, etc. As much as I love Tall Grass Prairie products, I think there's room for more variety.
