The sales office lady told me the height reduction was due to the land not being to accommodate space for the hotel (I assume this means not enough space for a hotel lobby, banquet halls, pool, gym and the rest). Does this mean they could add an extra 12 floors of just condos?

Well, it shows that Habs fans are easily swayed by gimmicks and slick marketing campaigns. Just like their counterparts down the 401.

The following project has been approved and his pretty much a go at this point. I like the architecture but the greatest asset of this project is its location. Here is a 360° view of Montreal from the project site. The view is great and future owners will be able to witness many projects going up downtown!!

This is correct, however they could not add additional condo floors due to the additional parking requirements it would create. The initial cited height near 200m was very preliminary and not really feasible in retrospect.

Render of the first office tower to go up in Vaughan Metropolitian centre. Apparently will begin construction next year, to be completed in 2015. 300,000 square feet, lead tenant is KPMG.

note that that is still the equivalent of 13,000 units a year, quite a lot.

Nothing wrong with a moderate slowdown. Over the past 5-10 years the city's been growing at such a frantic pace and has been in such a state of flux that it could probably use a little breather. Sell off the remaining inventory then start fresh.

Anyway, the projects currently under construction will be enough to keep us entertained until halfway through the decade.

we are looking at 2016 before everything under construction right now is finished. and that is if nothing new was to start. I can see many more projects starting in the next couple of years, leading to lots of construction to 2020 at least.

50,000 units over 2 years was truely insane. Miami took a decade to sell that and it was one of the hottest places in the continent.

5000 units/year is roughly what Chicago peaked at last decade and equal to one 40 to 50 floor tower breaking ground per month.

The CityPlace/Fort York lands weren't expected to be developed until about 2030 and they're both largely complete with a couple of bonus plots like Panorama.
