Again, if you flew to Grande Prairie or Calgary or Fort Mac in the past you flew an old Dash 3 or something. These are new planes that are very very different. There is a reason airlines are ordering these new turbo props and ATR's in the last year. Give them a little credit.

So you would rather take a connection in YYC over nonstop turbo prop. ES services YEG-YWG with a single daily flt, so this market is ripe for Encore service in 2013. Your only options will either be nonstop on Q400 or connection in YYC.

I made an observation about the flight to Winnipeg. Frankly I have no intentions of going to Winnipeg via YYC or Mars. I did state I have taken props...and they are not my first choice of aircraft. With choice I would avoid a prop. I am a global traveller...racking 80000-120000 miles annually. I don't need you to give me advice on travel.

A little touchy on subject, frankly. It IS true, however, the Dh8D is not to be compared with a HS748 or any props of that era. The Super Connie was nice but... I don't mistakenly lump all jets in the quiet category, either. From a pax perspective, I had one of the quietest, most comfortable rides on a DC-9, seated towards the front. ANYWHERE on a A32X or B73X was/is horrible by comparison.

WestJet operates three daily 737s to Winnipeg. 6:30AM, 12:50PM and 7:00PM. Three alternatives over a prop or connection.

I think with AC Express focusing on YYC and YEG you see where the money is (YEG/YYC). My money is on Encore (WS) expanding in the west as well. Domestically our market (YEG/YYC) is going to be the strong and when launching new domestic products the WS name is better received in the West as well. Going to be interesting what comes about when Fall 2013 schedules are announced next year. I don't think we'll only see YYC flights seeing increases as rumoured around the industry. I think YEG will continue to see flights increase.

EIA is going to have to fix up their north terminal soon as well with all these Q400's.

The more flights that AC adds (frequency counts) the better chance of YEG gaining a FRA flight as well. I think LHR has matured into a mainstay route out of YEG, people are aware of it, and with YEG maturing into a 2nd tier airport (biggest of non-hubbed in Canada) it is a good time for a new Europe route.

This is the WS summer schedule which vapourizes at the end of this week.

For Winter schedule WS has 2 dailies for Nov and December. For January through to April WS was going to drop to 1 daily flight, however this appears to have been upguaged to 2 daily flights.

This isn't YEG specific, but it's absolutely criminal the amount that flight prices get jacked around Christmas. More specifically even, how many Aeroplan points are needed.
