^ It's mostly rentals in that area. Not sure which "NIMBY's" you are expecting ?

Had a great tour of the Epcor tower mechanical areas yesterday... quite impressive setup. Thanks to Qualico and AECOM for giving us the tour!

Noticed that they are excavating a site, former vacant lot at 109st and 108ave... likely for a low rise apartment building I'd think

Plenty of resident owned units in the buildings around Bellamy Hill.
Plenty of people dislike new highrise development if it blocks their view/sun.

If your wondering what "Nimby's" I'm referring to, please refer to Allard Tower.

Our condo is close to this development. Lower Bellamy is pretty dumpy right now and in that immediate area it's mostly rentals.... I can't see any show-stopping resistence to this project. It's at the very bottom of the hill so impact on buildings higher up the hill should be quite minimal

I agree, and the view from the upper mech room is spectacular.

I noticed the lot of the recently demolished building on Jasper Ave. next to the old Oil City building has a few trees planted in it.. does this mean we can expect to see it around for the forseeable future? It seems unlikely they would go through the trouble of beautifying the lot if there was some imminent plan for construction.

You would think that Procura should change their marketing material for the building. Most people are expecting something much different than what is going to be built.

^ read the website. Not only has Procura completely dropped the ball on this, and will end up destroying a prominent intersection, they don't even have the competence to put together an accurate webpage.

"Mayfair Village North is a 16-storey, multi-family rental building located in downtown Edmonton. The objective of Mayfair Village North is to achieve maximum feasibility and provide a high quality product at highly competitive, rents."

I like the redundant apostrophe. Very nice.

The building still looks terrible but the vacant lot it replaces is much worse.

Interesting bit for St. Albert

New district approved for downtown
Minimum heights, permitted uses receive council's OK
By: Peter Boer | Posted: Wednesday, Oct 03, 2012 06:00 am

New buildings in St. Albert’s downtown will now be subject to minimum height restrictions and a range of permitted and discretionary uses on the ground floor, much to the displeasure of the St. Albert Taxpayers Association.

from here

---

Anyone have any idea what the "minimum" height will be?

Some pretty cool ideas!

I can confirm that Scotia Tower tenants got notification of road-closures over the long-weekend "to accommodate the removal of a temporary construction tower crane on the roof of the TELUS Building located at 10035-102nd Ave".
