Considering the scale of this project, the timeline for them to begin appears to be rather short.

okay, the more i see it, the more i'm becoming a fan of this insanity.

if these things are built, they'll be unlike anything in perhaps North America. they stand out like crazy!

and wow. that video totally used shots straight out of the New York by Gehry promotional video. maybe this means the middle tower will be clad in similar material (the titanium tinfoil type of material)
although, i think 2 towers would suffice. the 3rd kinda takes it over board, although i think 3 would be ok if at least 1 of them was shorter.

nonetheless. really epic project. the scale of this blows everything else we've seen out of the water in the past decade (if not further than that)

and ya, the ABSOLUTE earliest I see them starting is the end of 2013. maybe demolition might start of the Royal Alex at the end of 2013. excavation starting early 2014. they hit ground level by 2015. and go up from there.

Jesus Christ, Toronto...

Your progress of downtown densification was already kicking the ass of every city in North America....but now you're just rubbing it in!

This three tower proposal definitely brings unique dimensions to the skyline.

For a proposal to now be one of the top 50 tallest in Canada, it must be over 160 metres tall. To be within the top 25, it must be over 192 metres. See the first page of this thread.

It actually reminds me of the big 3 in Singapore.

I agree with Steveve' s comments.
But WOW - what a proposal.

This is the website for the project: http://mirvishandgehrytoronto.com/

Looks professional enough for me.

The website I linked to previously is merely the website for the developer with whom Mirvish is working.

The tower on the right will be the first phase:

http://projectcore.com/peter-kofman/

This article by Sara Diamond, the President and Vice-Chancellor of OCAD, indicates that 25,000 square feet of university facilities will be located in this first phase as community benefits. Good to see that OCAD's space isn't just an afterthought but will be the first to hit the ground. They're also getting some gallery space in the nearby Studio Condos project on Richmond. Great stuff.

All three are different heights; one of the towers is marginally shorter than the other two.

2 should be enough, I agree with you; however, it is very common to see twin towers built...

This is a subjective judgement call.
I, personally, love that this proposal is 3 towers. I enjoy their proximity to the CN Tower.

Couldn't resist the troll, eh?

You know how many cars in Yorkville I stalked, and no response.

Yet here you are, all butt hurt and moody.

This closely matches the height for the west building I had derived yesterday from the close-up shot of the model.

It seems like the heights change depending on the rendering. The true heights may be in flux for a while.

I'll take a model over a rendering any day. The uppermost setback is hidden in the project core image of the model (tower next to Festival) which gave the impression of sub-supertalls.

Looks like the design of the west tower was inspired by a scrap yard. It's too early to tell, but so far the design is a big 'wtf' to me.
