Yeah but it is doubtful that anything big will be built east of the Bow. Build out of East Village and East Victoria Park will add many 20-30 story buildings, but will they be enough to balance out the enormity of the Bow? Heard Square will just reinforce the emerging tabletop formation between the Bow and Eighth Avenue Place.

As far as I can recall, my previous intervention was the first comment I've ever posted concerning The Bows' location within Calgary's skyline, though my comments admiring its architecture are plentiful. Hence, surely you aren't refering to me as one of "the same people". Consequently, I am confused as to what an acceptable opinion might be for you: The Bow is the best, its location is the best within a skyline that is the best... is that it?

I've stated two times in the present conversation that I like its architecture as well as Calgary's overall skyline so if you cannot digest the fact that I'm critical of its location, so be it.

If you are talking about the building in the forefront than you are correct, at least according to my opinion. Its architecture is very utilitarian, like most public office towers build in the 70's. As for its location, it is situated on Chemin Sainte-Foy, an historic road which is lined up with old catholic schools and beautiful mansions, one of which housed the son of Queen Victoria when he was living in Quebec City. It is completely out of place in that particular environment. Hence, there is indeed much to be desired about its location. See, it wasn't that difficult.

These are some stills from this very cool web page that allows you to navigate above Place Ville-Marie. Those images show how dense Montreal's downtown is. This city is a city of mid-rises. But adding a lot of 15 to 20 storey mid-rises don't change the look of the skyline, which frustrate a lot of skyscrapers fan on this forum. But at the end, it still makes for a great and impressive city.

I think we'll see something at least 40 storeys on the former CBE site. The site sold for a pretty penny to an institutional investor, who will no doubt want to max out density.

Wooster: Hope you're right about the CBE site! Will they be dealing with, well, my pet peave..... Shadowing, which in that spot, probably isn't going to be an issue conssiderring the size and sq. footage and the proximety of the Bow! Am I close on that?

Its placement does definitely emphasizes its size. It reminds me of the old World Trade towers. I always wished they were centered more in the middle of downtown or were maybe built somewhere in midtown. I think in a few years the Bow will be surrounded more buildings and have a more balanced look in the skyline.
