BTW, all - in all honesty, I didn't know the Under 500,000 thread existed before I started posting in this one. And then I was having too much fun but I really should switch them over, I think, especially since I post so much. Is there a mod who can switch my posts over? Or, I move over the pictures, can a mod delete the empty posts here?

So I'm not usually one to give any praise to Toronto but I just realized something... this boom hasn't even been going on for a decade... I'd say it began in 2003 with the beginning of construction for One King west... and look at how much the city has transformed. It is almost a categorical leap in only 9 years. That is truly impressive for sure.

Imagine what another 9 or 10 years of boom could bring to the city? Even if it does slow down, look at how many buildings over 150 meters have been(or will be) built between 2003 and the end of this year!!! By my count it is 20! With another 15 under construction the will be finished after 2012 and 16 proposed. Crazy.


Calgary and Vancouver have also made impressive categorical leaps in accessibility, liveliness, livability and office space for cities of their sizes. Hopefully by the time Montreal's is well-underway we can say the same thing about there as well

I say leave them here. And little-known city was not appropriate for St. John's, let's say less seen as suggested. I say split the photos between the 2 threads so you will prevent the other one from disappearing when times are hard (I just moved to a mid-sized city so I could contribute too)

He's not lying, google search "The Battery, St. John's", or "Battery Rd, St. John's" to see where it is. Its a very historic and photographed neighborhood, which sits at the base of Signal Hill, has some of the best views of downtown, and is a regular tourist attraction.

There are little villages and inlets like that all around the island, but the Battery is perhaps the most well known and the closest to downtown. It really is an ideal location to live.

Toronto is having a New York, 1920's moment. Sure there will be a slow down, probably even some sort of real estate crash at some point, but that won't matter, the transformation will have had happened by then. Toronto will be fine!

The view from the clock tower is great, its one of the rare views that allows one to set sight upon all of the "big 5" and the recent construction mahem of the east side of downtown.

The downside: downtown Montreal is going up, and in the next 2-3 years most of the new highrises will be built in a cluster in the west side, which means we'll see none of them from this angle.

I would like to check the facts on New York skyscraper construction at its peak in relation to quanity of construction and scale of construction.

The last time Toronto went on a building spree like this most of the end result was slab apartments between 12 floors and 28 floors back in the late 1960's and early 1970's.
