Robert's Plaza has been there - for sure - since '72. It is also slightly shorter than Regina City Hall's 63.09212 metre height. I can find that out [as to when R's P was actually built] within the near future.

I believe there was even a petition calling for its implosion. Wascana Centre Authority was very upset as well.

That's the third one correct? The one thing I am finding a bit disappointing is the locations of some of these pieces of art. This one and the one a couple of blocks over are not in very prominent locations. There must be a better location than on the side of a package. Not sure how many are left but hopefully some of the others are more in the open and accessible to the public.

It is 3 different colors? The background is also too narrow. Attention to detail is not this artists finer point.

It is all one colour of stainless steel. The background is just the cinderblocks of the parkade painted black. The artist may not have done that.

I can't criticize either the artwork, black background, or location, but that's one ugly parkade!!!

Vale and Western Potash. Vale has been around Kronau checking things out for a while and Western has the agreement to buy Regina's waste-water. K+S is also developing something not too far away (by Bethune) as well.

Also Rio Tinto has a project near Sedley. K+S is under construction, Vale has bought all the surface land and is waiting for approvals and Western needs a financial partner.

This does not seem correct, as the March provincial budget only allocated money for planning. There must have been a tender for some component of planning - probabaly engineering.
RFP for Construction Managment was issued about 6 weeks ago. PCL is going to be the Construction Manager for these residences, which is no surprise given that they built the last pair.

I thought Vale took over Rio Tinto.

Correct, Vale bought Rio's potash assets in the financial crisis, but then Rio's fortunes rebounded and they regretted it. they have since bought back into potash, including a deal with Acron http://www.miningweekly.com/article/rio-tinto-enters-sask-potash-jv-with-russian-firm-2011-09-27

Very surprised tonight to see that City Centre Plaza is virtually unused for the Folk Fest other thann for portapotties and parking. There are a few food trucks on the edge but those could have been in the parking lane of 12th. The stage is unused.

I've been very surprised/disappointed with that stage. They still use the temp stage in the pedestrian mall and about all I've ever seen use that stage was a street performer and a yoga class type thing. We'd have been better off if they just put a nice fountain there.

We were at the Folk Festival last night and we went totally expecting all the action to be taking place on the new plaza. I thought the set up would be using the new stage, everyone sitting in the plaza, spreading back into the park. Not to be and the new plaza was basically a dead zone--how sad is that? Is it possible that the new stage is too small for some of the set up needed for a group like the Jim Cuddy band for example? If this is the case why put a stage in that location,I agree a fountain would have been a more intelligent choice!!

A fountain would have been a great choice! I am sure with some years of working with(and around) the plaza, that it will all sort itself out and it will be used more than it is now. I hope.
