The corner of Berri and Sherbrooke was horribly disfigured. It's surrounded by some of the most beautiful hoods in the city but when you hit the corner: WHAM!! Upon exiting metro Sherbrooke your eyes are immediately assaulted by The Thing and then The Other Thing across the street! Terrible.

The tourism school was voted 'ugliest new building of 1974' which says a lot- considering it was 1974. I don't mind it since the reclad, it's somewhat cool, but it still won't win any beauty contests.

The area beyond Concordia is a whole new dimension of 60's-70's ugly. The kind of junk that only an unfettered boom can produce.

Montreal's answer to the famous "Crack Stacks" of Minneapolis, I give you Drapeau garbage, in the face of "La Cité" (only a small part is shown). It took out half of the McGill Ghetto. Was supposed to extend all the way to Rue Université, but the residents revolted against the madness (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McGill_Ghetto). Nearby Air Transat tower is also quite fugly.

Have you lost your mind? Vancouver's city hall is one of the finest examples of Art Deco in the country and might be one of the city's best buildings.

As far as Vancouver's single family homes I think they have either end of the spectrum nailed down, their ugly houses (pink stucco, vancouver special etc...) are easily among the worst in the country but their good modern west coast style single family homes (ie lots of glulam, dark stone, big windows etc...) are among the best.

Their towers are somewhat better than the rest of the country as none stand out for better or for worse. Flatline architecture.

This is probably the ugliest building in canada. A memory of my Queens days:

Ok, except that the "chatel" is located at a prominent intersection of a bustling part of the city. Egregious? yes.
Ever since I was a biy, I gazed at this fucker, asking myself why, why on earth someone would build this. And who? Was there an architect involved? If so, how is that possible?

Indeed. Thankfully they're out in the North York suburbs, so no tourists or downtowners are subjected to them, but anybody passing through on the 401 is not so lucky.

Hahaha! You mean you don't like the endless supply of porno shops, pawn shops, cheap flooring places, car dealerships and fastfood joints?! I particularly love the sections of Macleod where they've installed chainlinked fence to block any pedestrian traffic. My wife asked me the point of it the other day and that's all I could come up with for an explanation.

That building would have worked if it were only the recessed portion wedged between two other buildings. The portion that sticks out sticks out like a sore thumb.

Bitch please! I give you 5West by the LaCrappe group (Lacaille Group). Not only is this a hideous travesty of bastardized, fantazised NY immitation kitsch, it is highly visible from the West end of Calgary's DT. At Christmas they 'decorate' it by stringing it with blue lights all the way up. Like polishing a turd...

3 degrees-worth of time I spent adjacent to this hulking horror of habitation. Mostly trapped in the nearly as ugly and ajacent Guy Metro building and Hell building.

Yup, it's to prevent jaywalking. In a ridiculously lazy society, people just can't manage walking a whole half block to cross at a controlled intersection - and on a busy road like MacLeod, you see a lot of injuries as a result.

Many places have these (Crowchild has some) but for some reason they just stick out on MacLeod.
