My entire life I've wondered why HBC built such an ugly annex to such a classy building. Really insulting piece of construction. THe architect responsible should be handed over to RCMP custody and tazered .

The suburbs of Montreal has the same architecture as the suburbs or Halifax. That is a very sad realization on my behalf.

It really begs the question. Why are suburbs so often hideous? Even suburbs that are fairly dense and have decent transit are usually ugly.

Yup. Think red hair, white face, red lips. That place is what would happen if McDonald's branded condos after their 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 mascot. And it's right at the entrance to the community, too - so everyone sees it.

The only upside is that it's one hell of a distinctive landmark. EVERYONE knows which intersection to turn at to come visit me. In a sea of beige (and light beige!), at least it helps drivers navigate sans GPS. There's a completely pointless clock tower on it, too - to me, this is the ultimate sign of ugly (I've seen a few others in this thread). Seriously? Clock towers? Public clocks haven't been needed since the 18th century.

I thought the usual earth-toned boxy condos were boring, but Red Haus reminds me of why I'd never, EVER even consider a suburban condo.

It's neither in Airdrie or Calgary - It's in Balzac. That's the worst thing about it. Calgary was dead-set against it. They would not provide water to the project, so it had to end up being piped from Red Deer or something insane like that. Cross Iron Mills is a planning abomination in every sense.

To me, the ugliest thing in Calgary is Macleod Trail. Basically anything south of Erlton. Perhaps the ugliest street in Canada. Horrible.

I would love to compare any "ugly" architecture down here in Lethbridge, but in reality, there just isn't much down here besides "big box" development, which is always ugly.

My vote for Halifax is a condo development called Armoury Villa. It looks like an assortment of discount prefabricated building components from Home Depot. There's just no reason for this to be built. A plain wooden box would have looked nicer:
