Bennett Jones just moved into TELUS south a couple of years ago. The only one that I could think of would Fraser Milner Casgrain. They are by far the largest law firm in Edmonton by numbers.

... and in Manulife top quality space. If they wanted expansion I could see it.

edit: And competition from a Katz Tower that may go up much faster...if it materializes.
Manu 2 can go up in a comparative blink, because it's parking and podium are already in place. Katz would have to dig and get back up to grade which has to take 6-9 months, I'm guessing.

Does Manu 2 have any deveopment/building permits yet, or does it still need to go through that process?

Process.

It has the best location for a new tower, parking and podium in place and would be quite visible from most angles.

But... BUT... $40/ft or so is a challenge in this marketplace.

Bringing Together Architecture and Landscape Architecture

Edmonton on the Edge and M.A.D.E. in Edmonton proudly present a free lecture by Pat Hanson, co-founder of gh3 in Toronto. Pat’s work is in the increasingly complex realm where architecture, urbanism and landscape overlap. She designs with a modernist eye for order, beauty and social possibility, and an environmentalist’s awareness about sustainability and long-term planning. Pat has worked on the landscape master plan for the Toronto Brickworks and the award-winning Ashbridges Bay Treatment Plant Site Design. In Edmonton she is currently working on the new Borden Park Pavilion.

Wednesday, June 20,

7:00 pm – presentation, free

8:00 pm – reception, cash bar

Room 2-922

Enterprise Square

Nope and I don't take bait. The need is real. Maybe Katz has them already....

I stopped by the Pearl earlier this evening to check out the construction. It has progressed significantly since I last had a chance to see it. Here are some photos I took. The tenth floor is currently under construction, and judging by the new apparatus near the crane, we should be expecting a jump pretty soon.

How many units are in the Pearl? Not as much as the two Icons I'm sure...

Beautiful. I wish there were 1 trillion of them going up.

Manulife 2... I'm just hoping that it proceeds in my lifetime. So... 60 years to go. It's gonna be tight.

^ The first section of that survey has two "Somewhat Agree" choices and no "Somewhat Disagree" choice.

I am not sure of the name of it but I drove by the new apartment building going up on 107 and just south of 107 Ave. 7-9 stories. It said Edmonton Housing Trust and Brian Alsop the architect. What is interesting is the concrete and concrete poured as columns between the floors. Right now it's all open so you can see what I mean if you take a drive by. The columns are angular - unusual and so few of them to support each floor slab. Very unusual design. Pagnotta project.

That was supposed to be the site of Westcorps head office. Perhaps they sold it?

^I wonder what this is?

I was told this is a more relaxed Red Ox Inn. At least the chef or the original owner is involved and will have simpilar fare in the Old Bear Tattoo space.

Also Bothy on 124 is coming along.

I was also told that the new Varsona is getting closer to having funding in place and may break ground this fall.
