TOM Condos - 40 floors, Union Street (between René Lévesque Blvd. and Saint Catherine St. I can't say I'm a fan - it looks too suburban for such a prominent location downtown.

That looks like the canonical downtown condo building. Not great, not terrible. On the whole probably positive, but it's easy to imagine something nicer.

The hotel has twisted proportions that look like they came from some architect's nightmare. The dark sky behind helps.

I also really dislike that cheap stucco material. It reminds me of sprawl in the US and is only about half a step up from glue-on Corinthian foam columns.

It's not that bad. Sure, it won't be a favorite of mine but it's far from being ugly.

It was probably originally proposed to be placed on Nun's Island but was ousted by people with taste...and voila!

Yes it's ugly. Totaly undeserving of Phillips Square. Looks like a reject from some Vancouver suburb.

Indeed, in close up renders it looks like they use various styles you'd find on office buildings. It will be right next to Bisha and across from 355 King West both of which have had their fencing go up last week.

On the right side of this.

And across the street from this.

Not to mention right beside this one as well.

There must be over 20 highrises in different stages going up in the entertainment district at the moment.

Nice... However, where is the 'bubble popping' emoticon when you need one? The spec and continuous build can only go for so long. Half a dozen articles in the past week have been chatting about this forthcoming TO condo collapse if the pace/unit count continues.

Each year they write articles like that. Each year for the past 10 and yet no bubble has burst. The only thing that will happen here will be a slowdown.
