Let's be realists for a sec. As much as a downtown location would be nice, the economics aren't there for Apple - yet. WestEd is their most profitable store in Canada, expansion allows for more product space, more employee space, and subsequently, more space for customers.

^I recognize that, but I would think that expanding to say the new GE streetlevel or KR building or even in the mall at CC would be quite successful AND drive people there over nearby competitors which would then increase their market share.

But if the current facility cannot handle the market at WEM, they must expand.

A second location only works when they have their ducks in a row at WEM.

It's funny, I've never actually seen anyone buy anything at an Apple store. I see lots of 14 year old kids surfing their facebook, though.

I hate how advertizing and branding turns normal people into gullible sheep, Apple seems to have a lock on that one

So the PAW Centre is replacing the poorly-designed square? I guess the 'active space' redevelopment plans for that square are thrown out the window now, eh?

Buddahdome needs some a spit polish, but it better not change much as it is one of the most memorable buildings in this city.

No real work to the Butterdome as part of that project. Some of the spaces are being re-done in other parts of Van Vilet Centre though.

^ I heard the Butterdome will be re-cladded. (yes, it will still be yellow). Ironically, Unilever has purchased the naming rights for the pavillion portion. Unilever is the maker of Becel products. The butterdome will become the Becel Butterdome.

They seem to always be short of space at the Butterdome. I remember training in the upper pedway one year, then they moved our group under the bleachers, then the concourse and then some room under the west gym. And Then I Retired.

The use of the facility has always been high though.

apple is the highest grossing retailer per sf there is. period.

apple is the 136th largest retailer in the world and all they sell is apple products. period.

too bad they don't know anything about their retail business and where they should operate it so they don't lose any more ground.
