^ I swear I should have got into that racket

I know the guy we used to use retired to go relax and enjoy his mountains of money. Maybe the new guys coming in don't have the attention to detail ?

If you're looking for someone PM me, I've got a few names of some good contractors that could probably help you out

I spent 30 years as one and I have to say we were always trying to be better. Maybe that's why we were the only Certified firm west of Winnipeg when I closed up shop. I know 2 good firms and at least another I would use in a pinch but other than that.

But then I did switch to consulting to try and change the industry ......A bit.

What the what Edmonton...

Residents of stalled urban village balk at parking lot plan
BY ELISE STOLTE, EDMONTONJOURNAL.COM

EDMONTON - The sea of cars that quickly fills the park-and-ride at Century Park every morning could grow by several hundred vehicles this summer, if ProCura Real Estate Services gets its way.

The company sent notice to residents of the first four Century Park buildings at the northeast terminus of the city’s LRT line this month, alerting them to plans to rezone the site for a private, paid parking lot beside the train station.

They've been moving quite quickly on the sales centre over the last week. If it looks like the sales centre for their Signature project in Windermere it won't look that bad (except for the stupid peaked roof).

Not sure if this was discussed a few pages back but I noticed that all of the marketing signs are down on the old Crosstown site. I assume that this project has been shelved? I certainly hope so. We don't need Oliver Square Phase 3.

Has the brain trust at Procura completely evaporated? You don't think this would impact the marketing of Century Park?

If the City approves this, then it gets what it deserves.

In the last few weeks, this project has gone from one of the best projects Edmonton's ever seen to being just another train wreck littering the landscape, and I emphasize LITTER.

Now I understand why Westbank (Vancouver's most innovative developers in the last decade) bailed on the JV.

Speaking of Jasper:
http://www.edmontonjournal.com/Pyramid+L...+Mountain+Park+Lodges/6530177/story.html

Quote:
EDMONTON - Mountain Park Lodges has acquired the Pyramid Lake Resort in Jasper National Park.
The 62-room chalet-style property, six kilometres north of Jasper townsite on Pyramid Lake, is a year-round resort that was last owned by Edmonton-based Maclab Enterprises and managed by Coast Hotels.
No terms of the deal were disclosed in an announcement by Mountain Park Lodges, which owns other hospitality properties in Jasper: Amethyst Lodge, Lobstick Lodge, Marmot Lodge, Chateau Jasper and Pocahontas Cabins. The company is also a major shareholder and partner with Marmot Basin Ski Hill in Jasper.
“This acquisition follows our company philosophy and strategy to continually expand our product offering within Jasper National Park in the Canadian Rockies,” said John Day, president and chairman of Mountain Park Lodges.
The acquisition expands its total room count to 581.

I hope they don't wreck it. Pyramid Lake Lodge is a gem, and Mountain Park Lodges are known for letting their properties deteriorate.

^ Ever since the tourism agreement between Edmonton, Jasper and Shanghai was announced, my son!

Anyway...maybe Day can get involved in some renewal efforts in Jasper, starting with the hotels under his purview.
