Winnipeg (2012 City Estimates): 700 000

http://www12.statcan.gc.ca/census-recens...egins&SearchPR=01&B1=All&Custom=&TABID=1

http://winnipeg.ca/cao/pdfs/population.pdf.

Considering London's CMA includes over 115 000 people and Winnipeg's only includes 70 000 it is safe to say that the city is half the size. Considering I have lived in both cities for a considerable amount of time, I can vouch for that.

As long as you're comparing apples to apples I'm fine with it. Metro populations can be misleading, especially the way Canada classifies them.

I find that urban population (now called Population Centre) is the best way to measure the size of a city. By this figure, London has 366,191, just 40 more people than it's city population of 366,151!

In Winnipeg's case, it grows to 671,551, up from it's city population of 663,617, a difference of 7,934!

I'm getting those numbers from this table: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_the_100_largest_urban_areas_in_Canada_by_population

Those numbers reflect the true size of cities. They stretch beyond political boundaries, but not into their metro area.

It's being repainted and recladded. You can see the work progressing on Royal Trust Tower in that shot.

Cool Regina pics, and that office tower (in the foreground) that has been converted to condos is actually nice inside.

That skyline is more than good enough to go toe to toe with Edmonton. Hullmark Centre at near 170 meters or 560 feet.

North York Centre is a real downtown but without the crush crowds of Toronto. The cafes are almost always packed, so the expanded retail will be a nice relief from the noisy yapping of those that have already or recently opened.

Well that might be true, but Edmonton's skyline has more office which offsets its lack of height. The density looks about the same to the naked eye.. although North York snakes up Yonge going north and along Sheppard going East.

There's a major overhaul under way that will respect the architectural intergrity of the complex. Even the exact right shade of black exterior paint was carefully chosen.

You live in North York? I'd have expected you to be a more downtown person.

That's because 99% of the top 10 updates you crave ( or loath) are happening on Yonge or just off Yonge.

1. Trump (Yonge)
2. Aura (Yonge)
3. L Tower (on Yonge)
4. U Condos (on Bay)
5. Four Seasons (on Bay)
6. One Bloor ( on Yonge)
7. Hullmark Centre (Yonge)

Future towers on Yonge
Holt Renfrew Tower - (between Bay and Yonge)
Massey Tower (Yonge)
501 Yonge (Yonge)
460 Yonge (Yonge)
Karma (Yonge)
E Condos (Yonge)
1 Yonge - Potential Supertall (Yonge)

If what you say is correct, seems as though a lot 905'era will be moving to Yonge, which in the long run is a good thing. And of course, I will continue to take pictures of all the construction action.

North York is 416/647, as it's within Toronto's city proper.

North York is 416.

So 905 isn't classy eh? Come to Southeast Oakville and tell me that. No soup for you.

He just called about 2.5 million Canadians not classy. Now that's a classy thing to do.

That first photo made me realize how huge the Toronto downtown is getting.

Clubland is now Condoland

The Entertainment District is now the Condo District.

I find the view from the east to be the most imposing. It makes Toronto look very dense and tall. from the north Scotia and FCP block out most of the others and make downtown look much smaller than it actually is.
