^^^^^^^^Agreed. Census shows a 2011 pop of 34,421, based on Census Agglomeration. 2006 pop was 33,360. It was approx 33,000 from 1970 to 1980. Moose Jaw was a great place to grow up and is a very nice town, but "growing like crazy"? Not so much.

Downtown Transportation Study
At an April 5 open house at City Hall the consultant is supposed provide a preliminary assessment of traffic options for 11th Ave and 12th Ave along with City Square plaza. The open house runs from 5-8 p.m., with a presentation at 6:30 p.m. http://www.prairiedogmag.com/?p=40083

Guys there are criteria about determining what is in a CMA. Mostly it is about commuting of the workforce. Pretty sure we are not close yet. A few thousand commuters will not do it.

Boarded up windows at Gordon Block repainted. Painter said they are replacing murals once it is warmer.

Stage on the plaza... Note the must have broken one of the roof panels. Also the stage lights are on 24-7. Another observation, the Bank of Canada Blg has stood the test of time. That building is 50 years old!

Did anyone ever figure out what that rounded area at the back of the stage is for? Is it just for electrical or does it serve some other purpose?

It is full of crushed rock and 3 vandalized short flag poles.

Honestly, it's time to start cracking down on vandalism big time. It seems like everything in the plaza thus far has been vandalized in some way. It's ridiculous and these punks need to be taken to task.

This should come as no surprise. The downtown is sandwiched between two ghettos. Transient types drag themselves through there all the time. To be honest I was worried about the city building anything nice outdoors there.
As for punks being taken to task, it won't happen here. Our justice system is designed to let youths off with a firm finger wagging at best. There is no accountability.

I agree with your comment about Saskatoon. Getting around the bridge city is a joke! But the Lewvan has congestion issues, let's realize that. It would be much better to make improvements now, then in a few years when traffic is downright insane... And I am not referring to the south end of the Lewvan at all, but that may become an issue at a later date!

The constant graffiti being done on the war memorial in Victoria Park is quite disgusting as well.

Hopefully, someday. In the meantime, I think another thing that would take a lot of the load off that intersection, would be extending Rochdale all the way to Albert. I think right now they're only planning as far as McIntosh.

I wouldn't hold my breath on the development of the Black Building site. In my opinion, the guy who owns it sounds greasy and seems to let his properties slide into total disrepair. I suspect he will sit on the lot trying to get an outrageous amount of money from a sale. Knocking the existing building down is only a way of minimizing his tax bill in the interim. It appears he has let other buildings he owns slide into disrepair in a similar manner as the Black Bldg.

They're planning to extend Rochdale to Argyle but it isn't likely to be extended to Albert street in the near future, if at all. I think it's something they've looked into but decided against. I think the conclusion was that it would be too dangerous. You've already got traffic coming off of Hwy6 and Hwy11 right there. I think they would need to make some pretty big changes in that area to make it safe enough to consider.
