Regina Skyline

This photo by Dan0myte was posted in the Harvard Tower construction thread for Regina (Feb. 29). The city's downtown is experiencing a growth spurt, with two towers under construciton and two more beginning in spring.

If you live on the west side of Calgary, the mountains are MUCH more visible. The extra 15 - 20 kms closer to the mountains actually makes a difference.
You mean it isn't the windiest city in the world
I saw more shingles all over the streets yesterday haha 3rd or 4th time this winter!

I think the best view of the mountians is coming down the valley heading west on 22x. They look massive!

It's actually a neat skyline, with a handful of 15-25 floor modern towers Windsor could have a kick-ass skyline!

Windsor needs to build a new tower I agree!

We need some density.

I'd say the general location of a new tower of multiple towers should be near the deimler chrysler tower and be about 25 - 50 meters taller than that tower, to give the skyline a modern pinnacle, as the current pinnacle is the Caesars Casino which is unfortunately on the edge of the core.

There are a few blocks just west of where you're speaking. Those blocks are empty and ready to go, that is, whenever someone decides to build.

Currently it's Schmuel Farhi from London, On that owns those 3 prime retail lots. I don't think that guy has done much up in London as of yet, so I'm not holding my breath.

Windsor doesn't need more towers. All it needs is some 3-5 stories infill so you don't feel like walking in a forgotten far west village. It has a nice and neat waterfront (better than Detroit's) and a good skyline / density for it's size.

I think we have an ok skyline for our size, and for being an automotive based economy. Hopefully once things pick up, there will be a greater demand for office and condo space in the core.

Ah the Braun carrier. One of a kind.

I'm surprised it's still in active service... something like that would make a great museum exhibit.

Cool photo, thanks for sharing!

They could always make a museum out of the 2nd frame, word is they need at least $300M to get it flight ready.

This visit was a real treat for us Calgary spotters and avgeeks. Check out my flickr link for my shots of it.

With the cancellation of the Space Shuttle program, I'm surprised the Russians haven't resumed work on the Braun orbiter. Two shuttles are nearly complete, and the frame for the second air transport is done.

Sorry I'm getting a bit off topic, but that photo is cool!

It became Ukrainian property with the break-up of the USSR. Makes for a very neat pic with the skyline in the background. Anyone know why it was in Calgary?

It picked up natural gas plant equipment made by Enerflex, destined for Nigeria.
