I believe it's 14 floors on average for the Alt brand.
Anyway, their plan is to open 10 new Alt hotels in the next 5 years and hopefully, St-John's will be on that list!
I believe the current height restrictions by the airport is 3 stories, but the city and the town of Torbay are both looking at developing industrial parks by the airport so that may change.
It'd be great to see St. John's get one but you can't get your hopes up in this city.

There are already at least 3 hotels close to the airport, and a 4th being built. The airport also isn't far from the city and downtown, so it isn't as much a prioity as in Halifax for example where it is quite far away. However, I see no reason to have that height limit when other airports have 14 storey buildings.
Gottingen use to be one of the nicest streets in Halifax but now it is one of the rougher areas in the city
Yeah, it could use this project and in the coming years will hopefully see more changes like this in the area
Is Gottingen Street considered to be a rough area? This project should do a decent job of improving the neighbourhood.
This is 50/50 affordable and market-rate housing. There's another similar project planned a couple doors down and then some townhouses are going to be built across the street.
Gottingen was considered rough but has been gentrifying a lot lately and has seen a couple of private condo developments. I'm not sure exactly what it's like presently because I haven't been back in a couple of years.
