SNC-Lavalin is planning to build a second tower at its Montreal HQ and believes it will be completed by 2015.

La tour serait érigée à côté de l'édifice actuel du siège social (Place Félix-Martin), qui compte 22 étages. SNC-Lavalin souhaite que le futur bâtiment devienne «un lieu de travail sain et attrayant (...) qui favorisera la productivité, l'esprit d'équipe et le partage des connaissances», précise M. Duhaime dans son message.

L'entreprise vise à obtenir la certification LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), ce qui signifie que l'immeuble serait conçu de façon à consommer moins d'énergie et à respecter les normes en matière de développement durable.

Leslie Quinton, porte-parole de SNC-Lavalin, a indiqué dans un courriel vendredi que le projet en était toujours à l'«étape préliminaire» et que les architectes n'avaient pas encore été choisis.

Or, pour une ouverture en 2015, les travaux devraient débuter cette année ou en 2013 au plus tard, souligne-t-on dans le milieu de l'immobilier.

I like it, the grid windows reminds me a lot of 96 Spadina Ave and other Fashion District buildings.

No doubt the windows are meant to mimic the building it will be sitting on. I have to say though I don't like what I see. Other then the windows it doesn't look like it respects or ads value to the old warehouse structure. There are plenty of other buildings and lots around they should be building on instead of destroying a solid building like this to make a quick buck.

Yeah different location, all we're actually losing is that non-descript 2 storey building (north of Queen) that used to be a Blockbuster Video. Anything will automatically be an improvement. It's a bit too early to judge this building based this vague rendering but I think it could be promising. Brick would be nice.

Seems like Streetcar's largest to-date. I'm anxious to see what it will look like, I've always liked their product.

I knew Peel and Gladstone would start to boom with construction after the Dufferen underpass was complete. 11 Peel is one ugly warehouse that can go, same with most of the houses on the street especially the ones to the immediate right of this building. If you see them in person you'll notice how they are sinking on an angle.

Yeah, that underpass has done wonders in revitalizing this tired stretch. Great to see this area relevant again. There's another large project in the pipeline for the redevelopment of the ugly warehouse on the west side of Dufferin (440 Dufferin Street), 8-24 storeys.

I know it's just a rendering but it seems a bit top-heavy. Nonetheless, it will be very positive addition in this area.

A little disconcerting with streetcar venturing into the highrise market considering they have been one of the few to build mostly medium rises .

Jonovision posted this massing model for the redevelopment of Dartmouth Cove, an area next to King's Wharf (the grey buildings near the top -- that development is already started).

This should be a pretty interesting area since it's next to downtown Dartmouth, has ferry service to Halifax, and has an old canal and water frontage. It's nice to see a larger scale redevelopment that could bring in some real population density.

New Ryerson University Student Residence, 186-188 Jarvis Street, Toronto, 23 storeys

• The new student residence will be located at 186 & 188 Jarvis Street (west side of Jarvis between Queen and Dundas)
• The proposed building is 23 storeys, providing 500+ spaces for Ryerson students
• The addition of 500+ spaces increases Ryerson’s total residence spaces by 30%
• Initial building design includes a two-storey podium at grade offering a mix of services such as cafes, retail and service outlets
• Construction is slated to begin in 2014. The residence is expected to open in September, 2016
• Ryerson is ultimately aiming to increase its residence capacity by 2,000 spots by 2020, meaning the university will likely need to build at least two more buildings.
