Nice work St. John's! Will the building serve as an office or residential? Or both?! It's basically two buildings in one so I'm sure mixed use is feasible. I love the ongoing revitalization of the west end of downtown St. John's. Some ground level retail on that building would do WONDERS for that area.

The developer had a slightly different looking proposal last year, they're developing condos across the road as part of this renovation, and had planned to have retail on the first floor and the rest residential. However the first floor of this proposal looks like they would be residential entrances rather than commercial entrances. The furthest end of the building has a different design though so that could be retail space.
Pray it gets built. The site it's proposed for has a long history of failed plans. It's been dug out and filled in numerous times. Fenced off then had fences removed. This section of College has started to go more upscale though so a development like this should move fast.
I think that site used to a gas station. But yeah, this brownfield has been left vacant for way too long. If they market this one well then this one should be a success. I agree, this area is becoming more trendy. This is actually a great location I'd live here, close to Little Italy, Dundas, and Dufferin Grove Park. There's been an influx in sleek, new contemporary mid-rise lofts and townhouse projects on the westside. A positive sign in the evolving tastes of urbanites. Gone are the days of awful faux-Victorians.
Love it! The addition at the top and the western side is awesome! Love this development really hope it goes through.

This is the site plan for the whole development, a few of the buildings have been tweaked (in terms of uses) but the overall height and massing should still be the same (though there are already some slight differences between the top-down site plan and the scale model, notably the alignment of the buildings along the southern edge):
Buildings A and B are under construction, the rendering above is for building C.
^^^ It would be nice to see an actual rendering of these. They look promising but you have to admit the above render leaves a lot to the imagination. It looks more like a massing diagram.
yes it looks very under detailed. so much as you wonder if this is the actual buildings that they will end up building, or just the massing like you said.

Okay so in King's Wharf, A and B are already U/C, C is the one beginning construction soon... I assume D won't be getting built until after the primary condo tower is at least U/C as it is an office, so I'm assuming the 17 story Hotel/residential (E/F) will be the one to begin after C?
Anyone know the actual timeline? if there is one that is...

I guess the new rendering is actually for building D; building C will be a mirror image of building B and building D will now be residential instead of office. I think plans are to finish A and B, and start C and D this year; next will be the 30-storey tower (to start either this year or next) and the rest of the buildings are projected to be built over the next few years, at a rate of 2 or 3 each year. For some reason development seems to be proceeding from east to west, which doesn't really make sense because each successive phase of development will block many of the views from the last one.
