Great Link SLC Projects. Wow, that is turning in to one very major TOD area. Very cool.

Notice the other day in sandy there is a good size 4 or 5 story building going up on 700 east, just north of 9400 south. I dont think anybody has ever talked about it, its new to me and I know nothing about it. My guess its condos or apartments. But this building(s) really sticks out in that area. Anybody know about this project?

Canyon Center expected to be started this year

COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — Ghosts of the past are making way for skiers and others in the future now that a public-private funding mechanism is in place for the Canyon Center development, on the site of the old Canyon Racquet Center.

The $14 million-plus development will include a 1,200-stall parking garage that could be used by skiers in addition to commercial development and a public park. The development also proposes restaurants, hotels, office buildings and office space. Financing includes a pledge of future tax revenues from several taxing entities that overlay the 11-acre site, including the Canyons School District.

Ghosts that have haunted successful development at the site include numerous ownership and management changes since the Canyon Racquet Center was built in the early 1970s, and community opposition to development proposals more recently. The original racquet-sports complex was razed almost three years ago.

That area with all those office buildings off of 205 at Knudsen's corner would seem to be a perfect location for hotels, even a large-upscale hotel for all of the out-of-town skiers skiing at the cottonwood canyon resorts.

Park City, the Utah mountain town best known for catering to skiers and the Sundance Film Festival, now wants to attract art lovers by housing its local art center in a towering, half-twisted log cabin.

The Kimball Art Center, a 35-year-old art nonprofit now in a former garage, has hired the Danish architect Bjarke Ingels to design its new home, according to its board. The $10 million-plus expansion project, which incorporates the garage, will create larger galleries for the Kimball's art exhibits, a sunken theater for dance performances and a sculpture park located atop a grassy roof terrace.

West Valley City is doing it the right way, IMO. They have acquired the property that is needed for the first phase of Fairbourne Station and have reduced the land costs to the developers in order to jump start the area and realize a return on their investment much sooner.

I've said it before but I'll repeat myself. I am impressed with WVC Planning, Council and Mayor Winder and their vision for the WVC City Center. They are truly taking advantage of the gift of Trax and will come out way ahead in the long run, and even in the short term.

This will be an iconic building for Park City, no doubt. So excited.

This is great! The Kimball Art's Center will serve as a North anchor to Main Street, while the Egyptian Theater serves as South anchor.

I'm with you. It just doesn't fit in to that part of Park City. It looks more like something you'd find in the forest outside Stockholm rather than in Park City.
