I agree that is such a cool shot... Is Lake Ontario narrower in the area of T.O.? I can recall fishing near Picton, Ontario and not seeing either end of shoreline for a lonnng time... either TO is that huge or the Lake narrows...

Also, would it be possible to swim across? Have healthy, athletic men/women ever attempted this (apart from those with long-distance swimmer credentials)

Thanks... Oh and heres a shot of Downtown Montreal, eastern half, with the seldom acknowledged Monteregie hills in the background. Taken back in October.

Lake Ontario comes to a point at Hamilton Harbour. Toronto is on the north shore and Hamilton is on the south shore.

Here's the same shot but with Dofasco in the foreground:

Very crisp and sharp. The eastern end of downtown is dirty as hell.

I was looking through user " le calmar's " album of his Ottawa shots and found these gems:

Showing some nice density like someone mentioned earlier

This is the link to their album... it's worth the look, the pictures are fantastic!

Hamilton is not really on the other side of the lake as Toronto. It is simply further down the same shore, although the distance between the two is actually larger than the width of the lake. Downtown Hamilton to downtown Toronto, in a straight line, is about 60 km. Toronto is across the lake from St Catherines, where the lake is about 50km wide.

Actually, from the shoreline in Scarborough, one can easily see the silhouette of the skyscrapers in Niagara falls, as well as lights on the other side of the lake in New York State

I'll just go ahead and state the obvious... Canadian skylines are infinitely better than skylines of similarly-sized American cities. It's not even close... I'd take Calgary or Edmonton over Denver or Salt Lake City any day of the week... Vancouver over Los Angeles in a heartbeat and Toronto over Houston or Philadelphia ... always.

Vancouver is a city I've visited a lot over the last two years, and while it's among my favorite skylines in North America, I do get a sense like it's missing something... Like there needs to be a pinnacle or a truly signature tower somewhere in the skyline. Vancouver needs something bold and contrasting... it has a sameness to it across the whole thing that a bold, landmark structure would do wonders. I've often thought something like the SkyTower in Auckland, NZ, but with a bright, bold, red color similar to the Golden Gate Bridge... something like that would be, in my opinion, the cherry on top that would make Vancouver's skyline the best in the world.
