The Shark Club is confirmed for City Place.

Hudson's is in the running for one of the two restaurant locations available in the ALT hotel building. However apparently there are 4 other restaurants bidding for the spots.

My sister just informed me that Quilts, Etc. and Nygard are closing at PP to make room for a Banana Republic. Not sure if this is new or old news. LOL

I haven't heard that. Don't mind banana republic.

In other mall news a tenant is moving into a vacant store in the west side of Portage Plae's secomnd level by the fountain. All that the sign says is shoe repair coming soon.

I assume you mean Polo Park (PP), not Portage Place (PP)?

Walking the skywalk today, a little more positive news for Portage Place. The former Hangers location at the East end of the mall has a sign up indicating its leased. No mention on what it is.

Also further along the skywalk in the Newporter centre on the north side (just before entering the MTS Centre) there a leased sign on that location. Can't recall ever seeing anything occupying that site so its been vacant for a while.

That was just a matter of time...they've been working on Banana Republic for years. Plus Quilts and Nygard never seemed busy enough to justify staying there, even at Christmas time.

Good news though

Looks like yet more work being done in Portage Place. The former Burger King right next to the skywalk to One Canada Centre has been covered with Wooden boards and construction work is being done within. I think the unit right beside it too. Could be a conversion to office space that was talked about a while back?

You and me both.

It is definetely looking like they're converting it to office space. They removed one of the boards in front and looking inside they're segmenting the area with walls, putting up drywall.

Cabela's to open massive store just west of IKEA site

...
A showcase Cabela's store has been confirmed as the first retail neighbour to IKEA in the massive Seasons of Tuxedo retail development taking shape in south Winnipeg.

The Nebraska-based outdoor supplies retailer received a city hall committee's approval for site design at a hearing this week.

Company officials chose not to comment, but documents presented to the Assiniboia community committee show the company is planning to put up a 72,000-square-foot building on a 283,090-square-foot parcel of land.

The store -- which will feature Cabela's iconic gable roof, dormer windows with wood trusses and stone veneer -- is to be built west of the site of the new IKEA store located on the southwest corner of Kenaston Boulevard and Sterling Lyon Parkway.

72,000 sq ft is smaller than I was expecting.

The Bass Pro Shops location in Calgary at the Cross Iron Mills mall is around 150,000 sq ft.

^ different types of stores though. The Cabelas I have been thru are generally not massive.

Also, does that square footage number for BPS include the boat dealer space?

No one's claimed the old Blockbuster location on west end Portage Ave., yet the Osborne Village location was quickly snapped up by a fitness gym.

I thought a real estate company (or something to that effect) was looking at expanding their space in that building?
