Yes, that would definately liven things up.

Not sure the word vibrant accurately reflects this part of the city nor any suburban form of commercial....
Don't they have a store in Northgate?

Yep, I believe so.

I was going off some information from their Facebook group - it said they were having a sale at their downtown location.

The Creative City Centre keeps coming up with ideas that catch my interest. It's a very cool thing, place, entity...whatever you want to call it, it's pretty awesome.

Hopefully the new FCC Tower will be 28 floors. If it were to be 20 storeys (or so) instead, Hamilton St. will still apprear to be a low-calorie version of Wall Street!!!

Don't they do something very similar to this at Bushwakkers once a month?

I've heard of the Bushwakkers events and they sound very interesting.

You know... I've been following this board for a long time, and I've always tried to figure who this fourthtower person is. I think I've figured it out now... he or she is the reincarnation of Nostradamus. I'll leave you with this quote I heard from a construction worker wandering around the city plaza:

Before long all will be set in order,
We will expect a very sinister century,
The state of the masked and solitary ones much changed,
Few will be found who want to be in their place.

Creative City Centre

Here's a link to an article on Creative City Centre in the Dec. 15 prairie dog:
http://www.prairiedogmag.com/archive/?id=1048

In tomorrow's Leader-Post QC there's a feature on the woman behind CCC Marian Donnelly. Here's her take on the new City Plaza. It's a position I wholeheartedly endorse:

With the new downtown City Square built specifically for cultural events, Donnelly — who spent a year on a feasibility study of potential artistic spaces in downtown Regina — sees a problem ahead.

“If there is an expectation that every non-profit organization in the city is going to just magically come up with more programming, then I think that’s totally unrealistic. There has to be an investment in events and programming and all that stuff, or it’s just going to stay an empty space.”

the conference board forcasted regina to have 2.9% growth. We had 5% this year, thats over a 2% drop, i dont think things are slowing down that bad, if anything the pace is just goin to pick up. We have many future construction projects schelued for 2012, so im kinda of curious why its so slow and stoons all the way up to 4%. i personally think they low balled us, werent all the banks forcasting regina to lead in 2012?? Idunno

We were over projections for the last 2 years as well (both around 5% growth), and I think the Chamber of Commerce was saying that they wouldn't be surprised if we blew past projections again this year. I wouldn't be surprised either... I think it seemed kind of low considering what's going on at the present time too.

A 28 story tower would be AMAZING! Where is this information coming from though? Does anyone know when there might be an announcement about FCC II?

'The Artful Dodger' opening up in the Heritage neighbourhood on 11th Avenue. Could be a great addition to this once lively street.

Quote:
It is coming, be ready! The Regina Arts community is about to grow. Arriving early next year is a new centre of events such as theater, music, performances, and more. Opening March 1, 2012, the Artful Dodger will also feature a cafe, gallery, hangout space, and a performance stage.

The Artful Dodger is both a place to relax and get away from the stress of the day and a place of excitement...a place to discover new friends and a place of art filled experiences, a place to find nourishment for the body and for the soul with exceptional food, satisfying beverages, amazing music, and to meet with new or old friends...a place to build community.

...a truly crazy great space about to unfold!

Winnipeg might get beat in 10 years if Regina keeps it up!
