I don't know sounds like it's taller than 4 stories and not going to be wrapped in vinyl or or nasty red and beige stucco.....I don't think it will sell well......and on top of that it's downtown.

^^ The Windermere project is a step above from your typical suburban type lowrise project. This appears to be the first foray into an urban environment.

Word is 22-26 stories ? This might be worth a trip to the 5th floor on monday...

Our condo in McKay dropped by $20k but MLS listings are still 30k above assessed value.

Oh I know that, but others may not be as aware of such discrepancies. For instance, when I got my aforementioned line of credit 4 years ago, the chick at the bank simply asked for a copy of my city assessment instead sending an assessor to check out my place. I wasn't gonna argue if it got me the LOC.

Large Crane for that site. If it was just infill I would have figured they'd use one of the smaller fold-able crane. Also there is no, NO excavation done on this site. crane is plunked down in a weedy lot.

They are using a different architect on this project versus the ones underway in Windermere.

Interesting indeed...is the site tight? (Popping back to check after this post). Perhaps they plan on somehow using the crane to excavate?? I don't think I've heard of that before..

Isn't the theatre in edmonton centre empire theatres not cineplex? I hope their architect is brighter than their marketing team.

The back half of the site will be surface parking, so that's why they can do it. It might be cheaper to use a crane to move forms for basement walls rather than a zoom boom like most projects this size do.
The project is affordable housing, by Pagnotta for hope mission. One level underground parking, one amenities and support, and about 60 one bedroom suites on 4 floors above. And a sixth floor community room. It's about the same unit density as neighboring buildings, but way bigger FAR. Way too much parking too, for affordable housing.

The CTV news article headline reads "Demolition day for BMO building on Jasper Ave", while the picture caption states Bank of Montreal rather than the adjacent cinema / New City structure that is actually being torn down. I work at the Telus tower, and on my way home today at 6pm the BMO was still standing... so should be a bit yet.

I wish the article made more mention of the LRT and green space going to be there, if not on the roof, then what seems planned for Jasper Ave.

Aho, edit #2, the caption reads "demolition has begun for the long standing BMO..". So not so much inacurate reporting as I thought.

I'm guessing that BOM needs to be gutted a bit more before they tear it down.
