That isn't a true street car! I think that is a mistake. Street cars are smaller and slower and much more safe around pedestrians.

As was stated in an earlier post. The current light rail cars will be used initially and will eventually be changed to a true street car. I think the image posted was just to show the color scheme.

Future Mayor, I think you may be wrong on that. The budget as it has been presented to Salt Lake City and South Salt Lake is to purchase, 3 S70's specifically for the SugarHouse Streetcar. From the discussions I have been a part of, UTA already has maintenance facilities and technicians that work on the S70's and did not want to change that. I have never heard any rumor that there would be a different car running on the line.

I was basing my information on and article in the Tribune that Country Lemonade refered to on the previous page. I too read that article, of course I can't find it now, and it stated in there that initially the current trax trains would be used, but would eventually be replaced.

I should have know better than to trust the trib as a source. I will continue to try to track down that article.

The five pages (of 12) that I read, on Trib comments about the story and not one person is blaming UTA for this. I was surprised.

I drive through that intersection almost daily now, and for the life of me, I can't understand how a driver could be so idiotic as to actually drive through the barriers and into the Trax train... Then I went to lunch today and watched another idiot drive through a completely red light on Bangerter, totally oblivious because he was rummaging around in his glovebox for something. Luckily, most of the other drivers were a little more aware of the situation so the guy only got a chorus of horns instead of a trip to the hospital.

Just a couple months ago there was an accident every week, for 3-4 weeks straight, so I will say the odds are really good for another idiot.

Unfortunately, its a loosing bet for anyone who takes you on. I'd say you'd have a decent chance with betting only a week, as sad as it is, due to the ridiculous number of accidents lately.

I am really excited about this map. I love the Jordan River Trail but I have found it hard to use, especially compared to the Provo River Trail. I think that the Jordan River Trail has a lot of great potential, and this should help improve it. And hopefully the Jordan River Trail will be completed one day...

Why are they just now making a Jordan River Trail map? It should have been available with the opening of the trail years ago.

I had mentioned on the SLC thread that demo work was being done on the former Market Station site in SoSaLa. It appears that the demo work was in preperation for the street car line. They were out doing surveying between State and Main today on the rail corridor.
