Very true, in fact, most of Amerca knew nothing about or cared much for the look of the Twin Towers or what it symbolized. It is that - symbolism with which this building currently holds - to why I have, over the years, come to love this building but that notion has changed to a love of the design and space.

Fact is, the only people that cared about the symbolism of the Twin Towers, that most Americans now understand of the Twin towers, was what those that destroyed the buildings in the first place were thinking of; not the design, form, or how tall (though to some degree, that in of it self symbolized the power of this nation) it was. Just that it was a WTC structure in Western society that was assumed to represent the world's commerce, similar to many of U.S. embassies that have been... in other countries.

To the other person person that gave their opinion, to which is that person's opinion and should be respected, give it time. You will love what this building is, and how it looks against the blanket of other NYC buildings. I do not know if it is the design I really do love but I do love the design so much and the green spaces around it. I just hope they do not build that art center/or school next to 1 WTC. I hope it reminds green and an an open space. I would hate to suggest that it be the inevitable actions of hate (this building will forever be a product of that very symbolism and thus will always be on high levels of alert that I have often said, if societies of this world do not change, we might has well have named this building after Trump thereby decreasing the deeply rooted symbolism associated with the new WTC buildings, for which the value of that symbolism as increased over time therefore, sadly, increasing its vulnerability to actions of hate) from others for one to decide that the building they see everyday or walk by everyday or see in pictures, postcards, TV, movies, and other forms of product and other media now love this building and it's design. Now, in all fairness, I love this building and design, a part from anything to do with the past. I have come to know realize that. It is a building that NYC needs and sadly, due to how it came about, NYC has been given what it needs most - taller (thus increasing population, not to say a world like that of the Fifth Element is possible), more innovative and modern designs. The only issue I hold is with height. When first announced, this was to be the tallest in the world. I say, since it took some time to start building and has taken some time for completion to just make it 1776 feet tall (the roof)? On a side note, there you go, a twofold effect of vulnerability  from symbolism. The problem here is that most any new, at least for some time now, will not dare to go taller than that of WTC 1, at least as far as NYC is concerned. Then again, if done, would take much of the spot light regarding the height of the building and the meaning behind both the roof height and spire, at least over time.

Just as an FYI, once they cover the perimeter columns in drywall, they'll be much more prominent, like in 7WTC. The fireproofing isn't nearly as reflective, so the pinstripe effect is still muted. Great photo BTW.

Excellent pics NY Guy, though I do want to correct one thing you said: the building in the background was not Goldman Sachs under construction, rather it was 130 Liberty Deutch Bank under De-construction.

this may be off topic (I don't know where to put this) but when all of the new WTC buildings are completed (including new 7) will there be more or less square footage of office space then there was in the old WTC complex (including old 7)? Thanks in advance.

Carlos: The beams that are going in above floor 89. Is that for the 13'4'' window spacing? You can see they have yet to install beams for floor 90 just above that.

The beams on the lower right are floor 89. The ones on the upper left are not yet floor 90 or 23' above the ones on the lower right.
