Wouldn't that mean 1 Bloor West would have to be vertically expanded 40 floors? I like it the way it is, 70's brown cladding, racing stripes etc.

Yorkville seems like the ideal location for such towers though. I'm also happy to hear that Oxford is developing these supposed towers. They tend to hire more conservative firms which is good since I'm not a fan of funky/cheap RAW stacked box designs.
I think you're on the wrong side of the street. - This is the Stollery's lot.

In any case, I do wish to see an office building there instead of a condo.

And on this site, i think we'll see 2 towers, one on the north-east corner of the site, and one on the south-west corner, adjoined by a tall podium... so a diagonal tower setup with tall podium. aka, Maple leaf square.

Oh, I see
That's a more sensible location for 80 stories , although I'm doubtful twins could fit on the site.

Even one 80s would be tough... there would need to be a lot more land consolidation and the tower would need to be rectangular not square. it's doable, but i would expect something in the 5-600 foot range for the site.

Also a new 75 storey proposal just passed across my desk. It hasn't been discussed here but I'm sure news of it will be forthcoming.

600 feet is probably to short for that site, seeing how Uptown is right next door.

Probably 700 Feet to 800 feet, it this is not the 1000 ft'er

The "south-west corner" of that lot is Uptown.

So much for the owner claiming he had no interest in selling. But I don't blame him for playing that up, as it probably resulted in a more lucrative offer.

I think Leftcoaster is right, the twin 80 storey proposal will be built over the Holt Renfrew Centre. This site here probably at best can get 675 feet/ 200 meters.

as you can see even uptown, a 500ft building, cant fit on this site twice, barely even once.
Compared to the 1 Bloor site it does look tiny, but whats the actual size of the floor plates above the podium from 1 Bloor or even better ICE(both in the 230-240m range) in comparison to Uptown?

Anyone will sell if the offer if right, especially considering how hot the real estate market is right now and the unreal level of high money transactions in the past couple years. Hopefully, the buyer also purchases the cookie-cutter H&M building, and awful Scotia Bank that make up that block.

I could see a slightly taller 2-tower project like the 56 and 46 storeys proposal for the Cumberland parking garage. If it's one tower for the combined floorplates then probably possible for a 800-1000 footer. Yonge/Bloor is one of the city's most significant intersections so hopefully this will provide an impressive touch to this currently lacking corner. A design that compliments One Bloor across the street that would create a gateway effect on Yonge, would be nice.

No this one is totally different, not mentioned on either UT or here. Exciting times.

Ice floorplates are 804 square metres or 8,600 square feet, so quite thin. A tower of the size of Ice 2 could certainly fit on the site.

BTW just saw the first renderings of one of the supertalls (yes renderings now exist) and it looks spectacular. Very cool design, not necessarily an instant icon but definitely no boring Toronto box.

Just an fyi, not to be too much of a downer, but it could get chopped into two smaller towers at this point. Will depend on how the financials shake out.

Any idea when the renderings will be released to the public?
