i dunno about Aura, imo, it looks great except for it's viewed from directly east and west... the curved geometry with the flat sides is kinda awkward. but we'll see how it works out...
and Aura as a supertall.... in 5 years it would be more appropriate with taller neighbours.
oh man, somebodies gotta put together a render showing how crazy tall this thing is gonna look from the lake.. gotta be nearly as tall as the main pod at the CN towe.
Perhaps from eastern island or Portlands viewpoints, but 120 Harbour is only a little over 800 feet, more than 300 feet lower than CN's main observation pod.
No doubt, ICE would have been as tall as FCP when viewed from the islands.
This one will rise a fair amount above that being 50ft taller and 1 block closer to the lake.
this height is awesome and all, but the lake view of our skyline is gonna get awkward.. it's always been a bit awkward imo, with those wide bunker-like waterfront buildings, and the CBD being so far away that it looks small, and the fact that a whole new city lies directly north that can't be seen,
oh man... the island view is too mainstream... the real city hasn't yet been discovered (postcard/television wise)
Considering how fast Tridel moved on this project, I would expect Menkes to get moving fast on the 70 story towers planned for next door. No time to dilly dally, gotta get them sales.

Wouldn't that mean 1 Bloor West would have to be vertically expanded 40 floors? I like it the way it is, 70's brown cladding, racing stripes etc.
Yorkville seems like the ideal location for such towers though. I'm also happy to hear that Oxford is developing these supposed towers. They tend to hire more conservative firms which is good since I'm not a fan of funky/cheap RAW stacked box designs.
